hi all was thinking of geting a ifs widening kit for my hj61 but not 2 sure how strong it would be, it has a lot of weight up front and gets driven hard and fastish so if any one knows how much more strees that puts on bearings and pins let me know. and was also wondering how 2 make it brake better with 33-35inch tyres?
i used to have them on my race car it had 37 a used to hit shit pretty hard and did not have a problem,as the wheel bearings are in a factory position for that hub and all you are doing is moving the disc back with a spacer . to fix your brakes put front 60 disc on the rear wiyh a early 80s master this will do the trick

i wouldnt mind getting my 61 to brake better aswell ,scotty do you know excactly what parts are needed to put disks on the rear without having to do the trial and error thing or look for subaru calipers and all that crap caus i just dont have the time for that .
ive read that 80's rear hubs fit on a 60 (and give you a wider track +30mm each side i think)then you can use 60 front disks but i dont know what calipers people are using with this setup ,or if this setup even works like i said i read it on the interweb.

88vx 60's sahara twin factory locked on 37's
yes you can run 80 hub i used to as well on the back it makes it 37mm wider each side all you need is 80 hubs,60 front discs,60 front calipers and 75 wheel studs. you do have to machine i think it was about 1mm out of the centre of the disc so it fits over the scentre of the hub the you put the 75 wheel stud though to disc into the hud. also you will need to get a disc brake conversion kit to fit it all up

any more info/pics of the brackets for the rear calipers?
if this works on a 60, should work on a 40 (i was thinking of an IFS hub swap on the front of my 40 and a 60 rear axle complete).
just hubs on the rear would be better, discs would be a bonus.

yeah was thinking of geting a ifs kit for the front with ifs hilux hubs with rv6 4runner calipers and 80 master cyl and bostter and may be a 80 rear axle for the extra width and disc brakes but fiting discs and 80 hubs sounds better i have some old subaru calipers with hand brakes. i have rebuilt the front calipers with new discs and new rear wheel cyl and shoes but still wont lock up.

I think if you just serviced your brakes you would have noticed a big increase in performance.
I dont think your slotted rotors or braided lines make any difference at all to your car locking up on the bitumen.
