80 - 105 interchangability
im thinking of buying a 105 and was wondering if the airlocker centres and longfields and axels will fit a 105?
Re: 80 - 105 interchangability
the rear is a definate no diff center is diferent you need a new rear lockercrankycruiser wrote:im thinking of buying a 105 and was wondering if the airlocker centres and longfields and axels will fit a 105?
the front air locker will swap over
when i put a 79 series front diff housing (same set up as 105)in my hilux i used the original axles (due to length) and put 80 series cvs and knuckles brakes etc to make it 6 stud it all bolted straight up with the mixed bag of parts
so it is not s definative yes but i think it will be ok for the front axles and cvs
had you thought of putting an 80 series rear diff housing and 80 series front swivel hub assys
then you could use all your gear plus use 6 stud wheels

After just doign all that work. Mind you an LS powered 105 wouldn't be a bad thing.crankycruiser wrote:im thinking of buying a 105 and was wondering if the airlocker centres and longfields and axels will fit a 105?
sure isevanstaniland wrote:is it possible to put 80s swivel hubs on a 105 so the 105 is 6 stud??
Evan
i did it to a 79 series front diff (same ends as 105)
used all 80 gear bolted straight up to the ends of the knuckles
only downer is weaker free wheeling hub studs

You will have to get some descent offset 80 series front rims, as a 100 hub is spaced 30mm wider than 80. 80 = 4.1 ratio, 100 = 4.3...the front arb and longies will fit in a 105 if you put 78 freewheelin hubs on it .....probably the best way forward Ray
Alllllso....while 4.3 sounds better for bigger tyres, they are a weaker front ring, with an extra 2 teeth cramed on that 8 inch wheel = thinner tooth lands.
