Get yourself a set of these....
Weld them to the top of your diff making sure they are exactly a mirror of the original ones and you might have to rotate your front diff forward a couple of deg to keep the correct castor and drive shaft angle's.
You will also need to fit a new set of centre bolts to your springs, but put them back the opposite to what they are now. Flip your U bolts and shock mount plates and your done.
Next is your steering either lengthen your draglink or you will need a high steer arm. Depending on how much lift your springs have. I would suggest a high steer arm.
Then you have to think about extended brake lines...

DONT forget to increase your wheel track aswell to compensate for the 6" lift you just installed.KUSTOMV840 wrote:Get yourself a set of these....

why not use snake?
i've just bought a heap of stuff from snake to do my spring over on my bj42. snakes gear is awsome quality, most other shops selling similar stuff are just direct copies. its dot approved and my engineer recomended we only use snake. Rynos a champ and was more than happy to meet me at his office on a sunday morning to talk me through what i needed. i was guna buy heaps of other stuff too but he talk me out of it cause he reackond i didnt need it. that to me shows hes not just out to make a buck. Snakes not a rip off. you get what you pay for.
why cant it be engineered? i've owned an engineered sprung over 60 series. And i'm building a sprung over bj42 on 60s diffs at the moment.
My engineer is happy to pass it. there are plenty of soa trucks out there, surely they arnt all illigal. Thats the first time i've ever heard you cant have an engineered soa converted truck in Australia. any one else having this prob?

i think you are grossly misinformed.vk7ybi wrote:Well in this state of Australia, a SOA conversion cannot be engineered. DOT approval therefore means nothing. I dont know where you are, but if SOA is engineerable then good luck to you for shopping with snake..
if so, they shoudld remove Hiluxes from d road....

He did say "in THIS state of Australia" and I'm assuming he's referring to Tas.
From what I've heard and read on here, SOA is not legal in Qld either. That is to say, you can't spring over a factory sprung under rig as an approved mod. As we all know, Hilux is sprung over from the factory so it's not a mod.

Yeah X2!!!!!
Dont forget that if you roll your diff forward more than a cpl degrees, its a top idea to do a cut and turn so your not gonna be steering like a grader hahahah

Get out there!!
finally started my spring over today! will prob cut and turn tomoro.
i'll eventually get a bit of a build up thread going. been taking pleanty of pics to help people out in the future. today was pretty good got a fair bit done. diffs out, new ones shaved up. nearly all spring mounts fitted. took some leavs out. should sit nice and low and flex well. Mellows40, a spring over isnt all that hard to do IF you do your reserch, know what you want and have ALL the parts and propper tools from the start. its worth having a crack at it yourself. the cash you'll save is coin you can spend on other things. Tyres, lokkers etc..

locktup are great to deal with and have great parts.
superior mick is good to deal with and has great quality parts.
some shops sell reputable part used widely by those in the know...
others do not. make your own judgement but if a part fails on the road it could be your life.

G'day,
Cheers Ausdog....... I'll be watching for the build up thread... Once you have it done and all works correctly, would it be too much to ask if you put on a list of all items used and puchased?.. Prices from state to state change so that wouldn't be needed. so when I do mine or anyone wants to copy what you've done, it takes the guess work out for us?... I realize this could be a fair amount of work in it's self. But to us who have no idea... it would realy help..
Cheers
