Hey Freaks, what is the easiest, cheapest way to convert my BJ42 to power steering?
Also, my engineer wants me to change chassis to a pre '78 cruzer so I can run a 350 chev without needing a post '78 australian spec 350 with all polution gear to get around the ADR (36?), has anyone else dodged this an easier way, without going to LPG?
Has anyone got approval to engineer a 6 point roll cage with a front hoop behind the windscreen? (in NSW, the legislation state)
Thanks.

Power Steering and stuff about a BJ42
MORE POWER, ARRG ARRG ARRG!
A mate of mine has a FJ40 with power steering, the steering box is positioned in the same place as it is on the BJs. So the easiest way would be to source one of these boxes and a pump and bolt it on.
The best way would be to covert to 60s p/s, it is a stronger box and because it is mounted on the chassis rail it does away with a couple of linkages.

I Wish
Could be your Steering Damper is stuffed, Replaced the Original with a Gabriel from Super Cheap Auto last July. - Steering is now fairly light, Well not compared to the FZJ80. Although the BJ40's Steering has better overall feel.

ive got a front hoop on my cage engineered and my 78 40s has a 69' 350 chev, all engineered.
my advice would be to find another engineer.
if you can find a 40s p/s box, you will pay upwards of $800 for it, it makes the swap easy but the relay link will foul your shock when you lift it/
i went 75s p/s box but the 60s box is just as good, will sit differently on your rail though (right were your og shock hoop is
ask bj on roids re; p/s swaps, he's the man when it comes to bj's
