3rz coversion oil filter?

Post by dillza_69 »

My lux is standard height and the oil filter was getting smashed by the torque rod bracket. I bought an oil filter relocation kit but by the time the adapter is screwed in place and the hoses are attached the whole lot hangs just as low as the oil filter did. What have others done about this? I thought i could just extend the bump stop on that side??

I have searched but i found nothing that answered my question.

Is it solid axle or IFS front end? Mine's an IFS and the oil filter fits fine...

IFS doesn't have any moving parts under the motor (sump area) my brother has the same problem i was going to relocate it but sounds like there is no point.

for now we just tacked some metal on the chassie where the bumpstop hits so it cant travel as far....... maybe if you run extended shackels all round would this stop it from flexing up as far?

yeah that's what i was going to do, just thought someone else would have come across this problem. If im going to lift it i would rather do it properly with longer springs.

Just buy a remote oil filter kit, you can move it whereeveer you want. There under $100.

Although i have 2 mates with 3rz's and they havnt had this problem, and the suspension articulates above what most hilux's do.

I think I recall Lux_89 having this problem when he did his conversion. Don't recall how he fixed it. Try looking up his build up thread for info.
