D MAX DIFFERENT ENGINE OR NOT?

I have done some reseach and looking at Isuzu specs for D Max it states that the 3.0l 4JJ1-TC Hi-Power is double overhead cam chain driven 16valve with roller rockers opposed to the Colerado single overhead cam 2 valves per cylinder.
Q1. Can anyone comfirm or deny this and put up some hard evidence?
Q2. Does anyone own one that can have a look in the rocker cover to see the difference or someone who works on them to back it up.

Not interested in unconfirmed claims or hearsay, ie; BS.

Considering they (D Max & Colorado) all come out the same factory in Thailand you'd think they'd all have the same engine.

According to Isuzu they are built in different factory, they are basically the same, but when you look at the specs on the D max web site, it has 16 valve head oposed to the 2 valve per cylinder Colerado specs.
Does anyone know for sure?

On redbook it is saying that they have 4 valves where the holden only has 2, the power figures are the same but the Isuzu has better fuel efficiency.

Thanks Sudso, I guess the Red book would be as accurate as any source.
Can anyone else shed some light on the subject. To confirm Colerado= 2 valves and Dmax = 4 valves per cylinder.

Thats for sure, the Isuzu luxury model has better seats, and finish for less
$$. Its at the top of my new vehical list for Christmas.

Have a look at the latest Aus 4wd monthly?
It has tested out the latest lineup of dual cabs!

The "D Max" came out their 1st choice!
Colorado came just a notch back IIRC.

I wanna know if it will fit in a Jackaroo!!! Now that would be good...

That information alone isn't conclusive.

Maybe they are the same, then again maybe not - I don't know!

I do know that there are several different versions of the 4JJ1 engine (there should be more letters after that number to distinguish which version). They make industrial versions (4JJ1XYBW-01 for example), marine versions, as well as automotive versions and they have many differences.

But it is reasonable to guess that the heads would be the same as far as the valve arrangement goes, and that a 4JJ1 from a D-Max could fit into another vehicle that had a 4JJ1 fitted.

How amazing is this, I sent a email to Holden tech asking them for some engine specs like the following, Does the 3 ltr diesel engine in a 2009 Colorado have twin cams and 4 valves per cylinder??. Well to my amazment they claim there having trouble finding that information. ;)

:P how are they meant to rebuild them if they don't know how they are built?

I really think Holden are trying to hide the fact that the Colorado only has the 2 valve head as there is nothing on their website either, and if it got out that the engine in the Isuzu was better and cheaper...... oh dear.

I recieved a email from Ho9lden today regarding the engine in the 3ltr Colorado. This is the email for anyone who is interested.
Dear Geoff,

Please be advised that the 3 Litre Diesel Engine is known as 4JJ1. Is a 4 valve per cylinder engine.

So can someone varify this by looking in their oil filler hole in the tappet cover, or remove it? Or do we trust Holden!
