D MAX DIFFERENT ENGINE OR NOT?
I have done some reseach and looking at Isuzu specs for D Max it states that the 3.0l 4JJ1-TC Hi-Power is double overhead cam chain driven 16valve with roller rockers opposed to the Colerado single overhead cam 2 valves per cylinder.
Q1. Can anyone comfirm or deny this and put up some hard evidence?
Q2. Does anyone own one that can have a look in the rocker cover to see the difference or someone who works on them to back it up.
Not interested in unconfirmed claims or hearsay, ie; BS.

On redbook it is saying that they have 4 valves where the holden only has 2, the power figures are the same but the Isuzu has better fuel efficiency.

I do know that there are several different versions of the 4JJ1 engine (there should be more letters after that number to distinguish which version). They make industrial versions (4JJ1XYBW-01 for example), marine versions, as well as automotive versions and they have many differences.
But it is reasonable to guess that the heads would be the same as far as the valve arrangement goes, and that a 4JJ1 from a D-Max could fit into another vehicle that had a 4JJ1 fitted.

How amazing is this, I sent a email to Holden tech asking them for some engine specs like the following, Does the 3 ltr diesel engine in a 2009 Colorado have twin cams and 4 valves per cylinder??. I really think Holden are trying to hide the fact that the Colorado only has the 2 valve head as there is nothing on their website either, and if it got out that the engine in the Isuzu was better and cheaper...... oh dear.
