Q1. I have points dizzie at present which misses alot, want to change to electronic ignition - do you buy a kit or just buy a second hand dizzie
Q2. Does any in brisbane know of someone who is good with carbie 4.2 motors, cause no one on the nth side seems to know shit :roll:

you don't have to replace the whole system when all it needs is a tune up, new points cost $8.

Of course if you want electronic that's entirely different. :armsup: I'd be keeping the cash for real upgrades though

Question 1: X2 :cool:

Question 2: I can't help as I rebuilt my carbi myself $50 for the kit from Autobarn and $70 for the needle and seat at Nissan (as the autobarn one was sh#t) also check all vaccuum lines for leaks makes a big difference :oops:

Hi there, you will be amazed at what a new set of points and a tune will do.....more than a second hand dizzy. Could probably talk you through it.....Best thing about points is you can see exactly when they are about to open. Get yur motor at the 5 degree mark ( second notch on the flywheel )( put the motor in neutral and turn over with hands) The rotor button should be pointed at the plug that goes to spark plug 1...if not keep turning till it does, At this point ( 5 degrees ) the points should be just about to open if it's timed right....if not loosen nut holding dizzy in place then turn till the points gap is about to open, you will be able to FEEL this with your hands.....If you get this far let me know and I'll teach you the mystic art of setting points gap.....p.s just check how burnt/ worn the points are where they contact, might just need a clean with some fine grit paper.....good luck ;)
