vitara front diff

Post by fire 54 »

I have a 92 vitara 2door. I am about to replace the ali front diff head and casing. The 2nd hand diff head I have to go in has a vacuum actuator in it. Can any one tell me exactly what this does I think it is some sort of free wheeling device??. Can I remove this? (I will have to change the crown and pinion any way as the gearing is different to the rear) my present diff does not have this device in it.
