4runner Handbrake into Hilux

Post by dillza_69 »

im sure its been covered but i cant find anything, even if i search using google.

What is involved? I have done a 3rz conversion and the exhaust has melted the handbrake cable. From the 4runner i only want to use the lever and the cable that runs to the middle of the car, is this possible?

If i am going about this the wrong way, what have other people who have done 3rz conversion done about the handbrake cable?

hey mate,
i got a '84 4runner and a '85 single cab lux.
I took the handbrake cable off the lux and put it on the 4runner. The hilux cable itself was too long so i had to get wire rope clamps to make it shorter. So if your putting a 4runner handbrake into a lux then it wud be too short.. Unless yours is a different year model to mine and they changed..
Cheers

this is a common mod for ingine swaps. but it looks like mine was modified to sit on the inside of the firewall. not sure if this is easier or not tho

that is what i thought but when i rang a wrecker they said the cable ran down the outside of the firewall of the 4runner they had there, it might not have been a v6 though. I will look into it.

Correct. It is only the V6 4 runner that had this set up.

For my 3rz conversion into a 22R 4runner I used a V6 4runner handbrake, has the pulley on the inside of the firewall. I melted mine initially too :)
