Correct me if I am wrong;nick.gooding wrote:whats the difference between the straight through bolts and captive studs.

At the very front and back you have just got normal bolts and nuts.
The 6 Captive studs are actually part of the body and will need a bolt made up with a thread actually inside the bolt
Correct, or you can tap the lift blocks and screw them onto the studs and then use normal bolts through the chassis into the blocks. You will also need some sort of support where the body used to sit on the crossmember in the rear and in the middle.zook_isaac wrote:Correct me if I am wrong;nick.gooding wrote:whats the difference between the straight through bolts and captive studs.

Depending on how high you go you will also need:-
- fuel filler pipe extension
- extended brake lines (just below the master cylinder where the lines run from the body to chassis)
- steering rod extension
Are you making your own body lift? Cause there are some good kits available that come with everything you'll need
Thanks mate.ZUKPOWER wrote:Correct, or you can tap the lift blocks and screw them onto the studs and then use normal bolts through the chassis into the blocks. which ill get.
this isnt a hijack
the question was about my car

I think you've misunderstood.nick.gooding wrote:iv got brake lines off a barina so thats no worries.

The brake lines ZUKPOWER are referring to are between the body and chassis on the inner guard, under the battery, at the base of the firewall.
They have nothing to do with the lines from the chassis to the brakes.
However, I've BL'ed more sierras than I can remember and I've never replaced the lines- there's enough slack in the hard lines from the master cylinder to the rubber lines that longer lines aren't required - just redrill the mounting holes on the inner guard.
I'll clarify that I've never done a 3" BL though ( nor would I recommend one)- they might be required for a 3" BL.
PS I assume your brake lines were "to suit a Barina" and not second hand lines pulled from a wreck

steve is on the money as usual, dont need the extended brake lines for a 2" lift only bigger. oh and i wouldn't recommend a 3" body lift either mine has since been removedGwagensteve wrote:ZUKPOWER wrote: - extended brake lines (just below the master cylinder where the lines run)

i will probably just take everyones advise and save some money and get the packages that come with every thing.
i was only going to go a 2inch body lift, but i already have a 2inch body lift.
the brake lines arnt new they are off my old barina. i read in the bible that wreckes shouldnt be selling them second hand but these are off my old car.
thanks for the help guys
yes i have a 2inch suspension lift but i want to fit 31s and i was reading about the lifts in the bible from steve and he said you cant fit bigger tyres with out a virtual lift or body lift.ZUKPOWER wrote:am i reading this right or did you make a typo? i didnt get extended brake lines when i got the 2inch suspension because i didnt think i would nee them.
but now that i want a body lift i didnt no if i would need longer brake lines.
you wont need longer brake lines for the 2" body lift but you may find your suspension lift is stretching the current brake lines which could be limiting your travel and possibly snapping your brake linesnick.gooding wrote:yes i have a 2inch suspension lift but i want to fit 31s and i was reading about the lifts in the bible from steve and he said you cant fit bigger tyres with out a virtual lift or body lift.ZUKPOWER wrote:am i reading this right or did you make a typo? You don't need a BL to fit 31's. But it will make life allot easier for you. I have an obsession with stability so didn't fit any more lift to mine to run 31's.nick.gooding wrote:yes i have a 2inch suspension lift but i want to fit 31s and i was reading about the lifts in the bible from steve and he said you cant fit bigger tyres with out a virtual lift or body lift.

Flex your car up, and get out and have a look at your flexible brake lines on the front, and the single back one. If they are stretched, then you need longer ones. Just make sure you have the suspension flexed up fully. I run 4" extended ones on mine, and thats enough length, though my suspension is not off the shelf.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
