brake proportioning valve

is the brake proportioning valve in the back of the LN65 hiluxs really neccesary? im in the middle of doin a 4 link and dont really when it connected to the diff if i dont have to. i wont be towing or anything, can i just cut the bit off the diff and leave it at that? .

i know that it takes some braking bias from the rear and sends it to the front so the car stops nice and smooth, not touchy or jerky. i only know that much as i had to have my rebuilt last yr,
if you remove it altogether, then maybe upgrade braking system to suit.
umm im not a braking expert, get in touch with a brake expert and ask questions,
if you were in sydney, id send you to burt bros in fairfield, they really know their stuff, but youre in qld, so i wouldnt know who to go to

There is a chance that you will keep locking rear brakes all the time even with light pedal application and lose front brake effeciency without one. Try and find a similar master cylinder with an internal prop valve or get an adjustable prop valve and set it up the brake balance

Or just cut the rod off at the valve and tie it up.
Im going to use a bit of threaded rod and nut to allow for adjustment.

Yep i second yamaha just tie it up if your running 12.5 wide tires you wont notice it really and the brakes are too crap too lock up, on tar anyway

Its a proportioning valve. As the rod is raised, when the suspension is compressed due to a load, the braking force to the rear brakes is increased.

Find a position of the rod where the brakes are effective, while not locking up easily, and "tie" it off. I would make something more solid than just tieing it. I am thinking of a bracket bolted to the two bolts on the valve, with a nut and a piece of threaded rod attached to the rod.

im not running a BPV and i have a 4link rear. get a pro to do the brakes and you wont have any trouble.

i have a dual cab ln106 and i pulled mine off all togther best thing i did stops on a dime and never had lock up, i adjust my rear brakes every 5000'k, obvioulsy if i jumped on them i'd get lock up but you'd get that with it on anyway

You can get an adjustable brake bias/proportioning valve to replace it,you adjust it via a dial/screw/knob until you are happy will it.
Locktup sells one as part of there rear disc conversion kit
