Have done mine and bought a kit from Autobarn $50, the only issue with the kit is the needle and seat it flooded like a bitch so I went and bought the genuine needle and seat $70 worked well ever since. Make sure the aftermarket needle has the wire to stop the needle openening and flooding.

As I might be keen to pull it off and have ago myself before I give it to someone else. Guessing after its been done I would just need to take it some where for a tune?
But do they give you enough of an idea to atleast make it run. So I can drive it to the tuning shop.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
they dont come with distructions but are prety basic! my best advice is do all the pulling apart on a mcdonalds tray so as not to loose anything and make sure you put it together exactly the way it came apart! i did mine today and damn its never run so well (even though i have a spring left over and dont know where it belongs)

My kit from Autobarn came with a detailed exploded view of the pulled apart carby. Still had some issues (not thinking) If you have a digital camera take pics as you start pulling apart then you have something to refer back to! Not a hard job but can be easy to stuff up. Once done you'll remember for next time

Dont touch the idle mixture screws as you may not need to change it much at all.turps wrote:Cool well this can be next weeks job then.
How far out of tune was it when you put it back together. Or is this something I need to right down when I pull it apart?
If possible have an aircompressor and plenty of carbi cleaner handy to thoroughly clean all the parts and to blow out all the jets when carbys pulled down.
You dont need to pull the jets out, just clean with compressed air and cleaner. DO NOT use wire etc as you may damage the jets etc. Also dont spray carby cleaner into the diaphrams /choke assembly as it could also damage them also.
If you for some reason have pulled the idle mixture screw out wind it all the way in until it seats then wind out 3 full turns, you should be able to start it at this but may need fine tuning.
I'm no mechanic and am happy to be corrected on any of this but it worked for me when I stuffed around with mine, trial and error, hopefully will help others

ok update! when putting in the leather plunger, make sure your read the instructions and dont rush like i did, it went in with one side up and stuffed up so i had to pull it out and put old one in and now it runs ok but sometimes it idles and sometimes it dont, that will be something ill have to sort out tomorrow! for now ill buy a second carb and rekit it!
