I find brake clean works great, its an aerosol so you dont soak anything in it overnight, but it cuts thru most oil/petroleum scum ive come across.

There is a proper dip, used to be called Carbasol or Carbysol or something.

Repco sell it but its not cheap, comes in 20l tins but is the best thing for cleaning carbies. Once its dipped then clean off with carby cleaner.

On a side note, if you are going to use carby cleaner, keep it away from paint & plastics. If you ahve plasics then use "carby & throttle body" cleaner, it wont eat the plastics.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

Can of aerosol carby clean and a toothbrush.
PS Dont re-use toothbrush again for yourself. (use the Mrs toothbrush, her teeth will never be whiter.)

What dip/acid/stuff do people use to get the dullness/oxidation of their alloy parts? Not to just get dirt/fuel residue off.

Yep i know the stuff. Chemtech blitz is hydrofluoric free the last time i looked at it, so im trying al-brite. Has a nice mix of both hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids (H2SO4) :?
