Confused by your question, Jack up from under diffs? Where you normally do it.Middo wrote:iv got 4 " lift. do i need a high lift to change tyres and such. i know there unstable but u can get bigger base plates for them. or can u get trolley jacks that will lift that high? cheers
Mate, use a trolley, bottle or scissor jack to change tyres. Highlifts are not for every vehicle. Infact many don't have anywhere to safely lift from anyway. And as stated they're shit for changing tyres as you need the whole stroke to lift a tyre off the ground if you have a bit of wheel travel.
They can be usefull for lifting the body when bogged, etc. so as to give you enough room to get a bottle jack under the diff (after fitting a solid object incase jack fails of course).
They can be a handy handwinch in extreme cases of dire hopelessness when you're winch fails, all you're mates' winches and vehicles die, and you're bogged far too deep to dig, completely out of mobile phone and uhf reception, and too lazy to walk that 300km to the nearest town.
