im not bagging your bracket i did know that they were different one

when i did mine i learnt that barely anyone knew what a l series subaru was and they tried flogging me all the wrong gear

that caliper looks a lot smaller then mine almost looks like a rear . does it have a hand break?

they have the handbrake assembly on them so my guess is they're fronts.
I know, Subaru's are weird.

i have the same problem as you!
my calipers are definatly off the front of a subaru
the distance between caliper bolt centers is 100mm
and the bracket plate is 122mm!!
what have i done wrong??
calipers? bracket?

can a GU rear disc be used as thats what i have. or am i better off finding GQ??

11_evl, GQ and some GU rear disc rotors are the same.

Go to the DBA site and down load their Australian catalogue, and it shows you what the dimensions are.

i have 315mm discs so that means i have GQ

now for the caliper + mount

My calipers fitted fine to the bracket.
Caliper was definately off a Suby front (took it off myself), will take pics and post up if it helps.

Thanks Doug,There seems to be alot of confusion as to which calipers to get,relative to the brackets supplied by 'Roc7oy'.
Alot of blokes have gone and bought them only to find they don't fit their caliper.Do you know the exact model/production date?
I have also heard that the parkbrake is pretty shit and won't hold,what's yours like and how did you go about linking the cables? and did the rotor fit snug on the axle hub? Thanks Doug,cheeers

Andy, mine are from a Subaru "L" series wagon built 9/89 with a E82 engine. Brake pads to suit are DB418. Code on the caliper is ABP3K.

Mine is not on the rig (too many things going on) so can't say about the hand brake yet should need a custom cable to be made. Have had the gear for a bit & rebuilt the calipers + set it up on a spare housing & axle. Want to get a 90 series Playdo brake master + booster to run this setup.
The rotor will not fit snug to the axle as the rotor is 110mm? and axle centre is 100mm. To keep it in the right place I fitted the rotor up with wheel nuts to make it centered then using the existing threaded holes in the rotor drilled through the axle flange and put 2 bolts in. I did get some spacers from stock4runner?? but thought this was a better way to do it.

The factory bolts for the caliper were too long so sourced new shorter bolts so they don't extend too far through the rotor side of the caliper.

Backing plate will need to stay (at least part of it as a spacer) IMO to keep every thing (bearings & seals) in the correct place. Tried with it off and would not pull up so just have a washer in there for the mock up.

EDIT : Just noticed it's going to be a bit tight for the shock ...... will need to make a new mount plate that puts it toward the top of the rotor

Thanks for that Doug,I have Chrome axles and the centre is 106mm so it will go very close.I got a bracket from Shane and copied that (roc7oy's) design so it should be the same as yours. I am building an IFS width set up for the rear so it's a bench build then throw the lot in in one go.
I was looking at using an 80 series master and booster (some don't bother with the booster)
Any reason you have gone for the Playdo M&B?
From the pics it looks like a good clean set up mate,look forward to seeing what cable set up you decide on,I like the disc ahchor bolts two.

I believe there is 4 different types of calipers that are used for the subaru range that have a handbrake facility. two have 100mm spacing between the mounting bolts, two have 122mm distance between the spacing bolts. each of these pairs then has two types, one for ventilated discs, one for solid discs.

here is my conversion, on a 60 series cruiser so a bit different, but uses same calipers and discs.

I am happy with the brakes, but not that fussed with the handbrake, Not good enough to hold a cruiser.....

The Calliper you have is different than the one that most ppl seem to be using on the hilux, they use the cast mounted type not the pressed steel ones the 122 mm is correct tho.

Just that the booster is not as big in diameter (bit longer tho) as the 80 and will need the room

Can make the existing cable work but won't be as "dirt & mud proof" as I would like. Might try to get the Suby cable and see if that will work somehow.

i THINK that the bundy housing is the same as a hilux (except coil sprung?), so these brackets etc SHOULD all fit...

im sure someone with a bit more knowledge will confim or deny this...
