Hi Muz,
Actually mate it's a 2.4 turbo charged diesel engine with electronic fuel injection. Bloody fantastic.
Not a lot of acceleration but will sit on 130kph towing a loaded trailer. Only problem was it tended to run a bit hot when the temp got to about 45c. Had to slow down to 90 to keep the needle in the green. Got to remember these trucks are designed for Europe not Northern Australia in the hottest part of the year.
Great fuel consumption for a heavy rig. 13.5 litres per 100 klm fully loaded and towing the trailer and on a trip without trailer 10.75 litres per 100 klm.
Nah not as sporty as Roza but man what a comfortable machine on a long trip. One day I did 1200 klms ( Camoweel to Kathrine ) and still felt good enough to go for a jog.
Didn't get on to well in Darwin and decided to return to Gladstone Qld to settle. Great Barra fishing in Lake Awoonga and fair 4 wheeling.
To tell the truth Roza was much more fun in the bush.

110mph * 1.6 = 176km/h
thats incredible
( currently my wheels are out of allignment or balance or something and if i go over 105km/h it starts to shake :(
time to change the tyres soon anyway . the previous owner had the tyres inflated waaaay too much and totally wore out the centre tread.
and now its very dangerous in the wet.
lol yes jojo mine are out of alilgment as well AND my idler arm is bent.. from the previous owner... and it shook like crazy... but i coulda swore if i hit a small pothole or a bump i'd get some serious air... lol... that thing took a min or 2 to get up there but damn.. it got up there... i was VERY impressed... my speeodmeter tops out at 115... managed to do 110 but was afraid to take it farther due to the fact that i was getting close to red line and with how bad the shaking was... not to mention cops.. but i'm sure it would have made 115 at the least....

1998 RMC Cobra with 302 Windsor, C4 auto box with Jag suspension.
Very nice- so who's "RMC"? There are so many Cobra kit cars around these days........ It looks like a very well put together and finished one. Any more pics of the engine and interior?
BTW I don't think too many Ferozas would like 45 degree heat- your Surf did OK.
David
David,
About 250 HP, Carby ok as it was first regersted in 1978 just before the tougher emission laws came int effect.
Thinking about fitting EFI. Would give an increase inpower and beter fuel economy.
It really dosen't need any more grunt.

Sorry David,
1998 model.
It really goes. Gets a bit funny on roundabouts in the wet, Lsd and only run 15 Psi in the rears and 25 Psi in the front. Still rides very hard but then that's what it'a all about. Luv it, nearly as much fun as Roza in the bush. I said nearly because it's worst feature is a cop magnet. Don't want to book me but want a look. Will have to fit a cruise control very soon.
Me old, bullshit mate it's best feature it also a chick magnet. They luv it.

Gidday BR&C,
Yep Iv'e still got the Surf and I will be joining The Gladstone 4X4 a bit later. Gotta get my fishing up to speed first and get the house sorted.
Decided not to get the Cobra. Beautifull cart but to many dollars in the end. Might build myself one of those little clubman type cars. Need to keep me busy besides fishing, FWDing and gardening.
Might evan go and find a job

Hi Guys,
Didn't get the Cobra, got this beauty. It's a JBA. A replica of a 1931 Jaguar with modern engine, 5 speed and running gear.
Just right for a nice Sunday run in the Mountains.
Will try to get to the March Meeting of the Gladstone 4Wd Club.

Hi David,
They are normally built useing a Ford Sierra as the donar car howevewver this one was built by the then service manager of Mitsubishi so it ended up with a 2.6 Mitsubishi engine, 5 speed box, diff and running gear.
Thinking of fitting a supercharger, should give it a bit more go as it weighs around 800 kgs.
The first mod will be a cruise control. One of those $200.00 Kmart kits like the one I fitted to Roza. Worked well.
Bit of info here http://www.jbacars.co.uk/

Ahhhhh.... The 2.6 would be easy to turbocharge- Mitsubishi had a 2l turbo Sigma, and I think it's ATS (Australian Turbo Services) brought out a kit for the 2.6l engine as a replacement with more power.
The Starion also was turbocharged. I can't remember if that was 2l or 2.6l though- so parts should easy to get for a turbo conversion.
