Best Diesel motor for normal 4wding patrol 3lt OR 4.2T

Post by Dennis VIC »

Hi out there, getting a veh set up for the big trip round Oz at the moment it has a 3lt SD33 turbo motor in it, hasn't had any problems at this stage.
For the long haul leave well enough alone? Or slot in the bigger motor?
Any hints would be great.

SD33 = 3.3 litre diesel, found in MQ-MK Patrols. Awesome reputation.

ZD30 = later 3.0 litre diesel found in GU patrols. Very bad reputation for sudden expensive failure.

Not really confusing. Based on the limited info, Chimpy has asked the OP to clarify which of the 3 litre motors is fitted to the vehicle the OP is talking about.
The OP doesn't even say what type of vehicle it is let alone what vintage. They have posted in "Nissan" so it's probably safe to say it's probably either a Patrol or a Navara. :?

Can't really say much more than that without more info.

Hmmmm :? :? Seeing as how Patrol is mentioned in the subject line- I would hazard a guess its not a Navara he is talking about.

Fair enough. I didn't read the subject line when I re-read the original post to make my reply.
