can someone point me in the direction of a previous post or give me a quick write up? have searched and found lots about everything else.

Lol no replies??? Is everyone here too good for trusty old points!!

Ok what you do is pop the dizzy cap of remove the rotor button, when you look at the dizzy shaft you'll see the cam with 6 points, turn the motor till the point contact is right on the tip of the cam. Now loosen the screw on the points this allows you to move them freely, there's only 1 screw holding them down. Grab your feeler gauges in what ever size factory setting is and pop it between the point opening, now tighten the screw back up. When you run the feeler gauge between the points you should feel some drag, if not loosen and do again, first time is fiddly but only a 2 minute job once you know.

In case it's not clear, this is the stage where the points are at their maximum opening.
