Looking to buy a 94 diesel troopy, what should i be looking out for problem wise?

Listen for a whine in 5th gear

Pop the crankcase vent hose off to check for excessive blowby.

Check for rust under the windscreen (both in and out), rust in the sills, rust in the rear 1/4 panels, rust in the footwells and rust in the bottom of the doors

What torque? Tighten it till it strips and then back it off half a turn.

Be prepared to shell out for g/box and diff rebuilds on a vehicle that old. Main issue is mainshaft/ transfer input gear spline stripping. If you jack the back wheels up off the ground sometimes if you rotate the tailshaft back and forth you can feel the gear slopping around on the spline. Or take the PTO cover off and have a play in there!
