Help With Steering Lock Please

Post by johno »

Just bought a 4.2 diesel patrol at the damaged vehicle auction over here. Turns out it was a court siezed vehicle and the only damage is the bloke would'nt hand over the keys.

Starting wont be a problem, but I dont want to break the steering lock and from memory the two bolts only have a hole in the head. Any easy way of getting them out, I can only think of trying to tap them around with a punch.

Also can you get a key made off the lock by a lock smith. Reckon Nissan would want an arm and a leg to replace the keys

thanks

Yes you can get a key cut by a locksmith. I've bought a car from an abandoned car auction before and a locksmith can a cut a key for you from looking at numbers on the key barrel.

Once you get the key cut then you wont have to worry about the steering lock.
