I'd put some tyre shine on those tyres, save up to put some fuel in it, then go and cut some laps around town and check out the wiminz.

Looks like a good lap-cuttin car.

*I'm being serious*

Drive to the nearest bit of track you know and let your tyres RIGHT down. I dunno- 10PSI or less, and have a slow, careful drive.

You'll be totally, totally amazed at how much capability you have gained for nothing.

Then tiptoe to the nearest servo and air up for free.

Then you can spend your tax cheque on a nice big compressor... or some beadlocks... because once you've experienced how well the car works with low tyre pressure, that's what your going to want.

Steve.

PS gonfellon - you've got off fairly lightly by outers standards. Have a read of Pirate4X4.com if you think these responses were rude.

Remove the alloy side-steps while they still look new, sell them and buy something else with the cash!

Doesn't look like that things been off-road before (Mainly because steps are straight)

Middo, keep at it, besides a couple of serious replies they are all wannabe pirates

Pretty funny in it's own way really :D

You will find the 4 RUNNER isn't too bad offroad but eventually it will need lifting and locking to go to more and more challenging places.

Ask a dumb question on nearly any forum and you are going to get some pretty dumb and/or taking the piss answers.

If you want serious help and direction try asking properly questions for specific help.

Like - what can I do on a very limited budget to improve my touring capabilities of my truck or

What can I do on a very limited budget to improve the rock crawling abilities of my truck or

What can I do to improve my truck given I've only owned it for 2 weeks and don't really know what are it's good points or bad points.

Really why are you jumping to do anything at all especially when you have zero dollars. Wait then go and use it for a month or two and find out what you like doing and then what your truck is actually capable of. No point people here offering suggestions of bar, winch, sliders, rear bar, tyre carrier, air lockers, auto lockers, spot lights, rock lights, camp light, swaybar disconnects, remove swaybars, spring packers, wind up torsion bars.

There is a million things just look at some picks of other peoples trucks, mods for the sake of sticking something new on it don't necessarily make it a good truck or you a good driver. Decide what YOU want to do with it first and then ask us to help you go about it

Oh and if the budget is that bad at present go and fit a Hyclone. That's all they are worth and for that budget the improvement will match the outlay

You may see it as a lecture and some of it may be. I see it as offering you solutions to your problem, being 1 what to do with your truck and 2 why you got many stupid replys. Bear in mind how many of similar questions get asked day in day out on forums and you may get an idea why some of the major contributors give the answers they do.

Troll through my post and you will see I did in fact give you some serious and valid suggestions which I stand by. Don;t waste your time right now thinkign about what you could possibly do now or in the future and work out what your truck is for and what it can't do in that environment.

But it actually wasn't a basic question, you left every possible thing open.

If you narrowed it down you would of got a basic answer coz we would of known what type of driving you wanted to do with ur rig.

i think the next thing you should do is a ute chop.

I dont know why as i dont know if you need a wagon or ute as we have nothing to work off, but its one idea.

seriousl, have a look at festers first post and you will see a dozen or so things people do to 4 runners, and go from there.

or see the pattern developing from all the replys and add information as to what your trying to achieve. then you will get ideas appropriate to what you want.

if your not sure what you want it to achieve then go drive some more.

seriously forums are great places to get help, but there are a few basic things you need to do to take the most from them, 1 dont have an attitude straight off the bat, 2) help yourself as when someone makes a comment take it on board. which in this case is add more detail on what you want.

simple ask vague answers get vague replys.

ask in depth qiestions get few but more helpful replys.

also try trolling through members and see what others have done to their cars.

no he got a bit of shit for asking a question which was basically impossible to answer.

He got alot of shit for getting his back up and not simply taking the advice of giveing more info.

end of im out.

Why not test the theory and say where you want the car to go, and what your budget will be in the near future and see if you get better responces.

Fit a turbo to it and then buy some cameras then video yourself pissing off all the local cops that are chasing you and then do a huge burn out in front of the PM's place.

Should be fully sick mate!

Do you have a picture of it so we can see what mods have already been done and have you asked the question on an appropriate forum?

This is after all a 4WD forum.

I have a SWB Suziki 4WD what mods can I do to it?

I have a 09 RAV4 what mods can I do to it?

These two questions should get entirely different answers, one of the above has been highly modded by outers members in the past many times and many aftermarket goodies available for it.

The other may be able to be slightly modded before major mechanical surgery is required.

Not quite struth, take out your explaining statement and stick to only those questions and I can think of a heap of mods to answer your question. Mind you some are quite silly depending on your use of each vehicle which we don;t know.

Lets go -

Hilux diffs both ends with lockers.
33" muds
Guard mods
Lower the suspension
Fit 20" bling rims and low profile tyres
Ute chop
wheelbase extension
wheel spacers
sliders
custom snorkel
doof doof sound system
turbo
engine swap
etc etc.

But how many of those make sense in the context of what you do with each vehicle and what you want.

Oh and don't jsut blame the forum environment for giving shit. If that question was asked around the camp fire in a group of ou friends and the asking party was known to us I'd put money on much the same responses being dished out.

Middo, if you had come out at the first flaming and said yeah fair enough stupid question, my bad, and re-phrased it you wouldnt have got flamed any near what you have.
Instead you had to try and justify how it wasnt a dumb question.
Around here you will get well and truly flamed for that.
Put it down to a learning experience and we will probably forget it, dont and every thread you do will get flamed.
