EFI for 5K?

Post by grimbo »

I'm running a 5k in my Suzuki and on the weekend really decided the carb sucks and I need efi. Does anyone know if the 5ks came with EFi or of a efi system that would work. I'm looking for low budget if possible (Aren't we all)

Another way to go I suppose is LPG. What sort of problems and expenses would be down that route.

Or is there a swish bang carb or mod to make it run better

you could try looking around at www.toymods.org.au

They wouldnt know any carb suited to 4bin' but they might know about efi.

In my searches for 4k stuff i havent come across any efi info for these engines(3k, 4k, 5k same engines really). Its all webers for the old toyotas

i just fond some info you might like.

Late model TOWN-ACE vans had a 7K-E engine. It is fuel injected 1800cc. As far as i know all K series toyota engines are basically the same, just capacity increased. I know for sure 3K, 4K and 5K heads are interchangable.

Maybe do a little investigating there

Yes it was injected but I just built the injection from bits we had laying around the workshop. It had a Microdrible computer Saab throttle body and Camira injectors. The throttle body was to big and had no thr4ottle response so I went back to carbi until I make a better set up.
If you hunt around you can do it fairly cheap the early Microdrible computers sell for $150-200 and the rest isnt to hard to make use a swift throttle body and get the manifold modified to accept injectors and an adapter to fit the throttle body.

some of the crap importers did bring inthe injected "k" series but as far as i know it was not on the 7k .i was running a 5k with the standard carby but with longer float tube breathers (a piece of vaccum hose shoved on the end obout 6" long ) and it would run on very steep angles even up a tree but now i am running supercharged intercooled straight l.p.g on the mighty 5k and now it will run almost upside down
