Trim height variance is based on the standard vehicle and how much it changes..........nothing to do with how tall they are from original. Variable airbag setups are illegal also if you READ the document.

a car lowered a few inches maybe, another lowered 6inches def not, unless the whole suspension geometry has been changed to suit.
And....nowhere does it state you need 15cm clearance to the ground.
They still base it on 100mm.

And as for the fine.....it can be up to $7700 for driving an uninsured vehicle....as thats what they say in the paper if driving an unapproved vehicle.
The doc doesn't say this at all. Infact it specifies the limitations on the variability of the suspension.

Without some background to that statement its meaningless.
If you are driving a lifted vehicle with no certs, your car could be defected, I dont beleive there is a fine for driving defective vehicle, though you can be fined if you dont present the car to be inspected once its defected.
At worst you could possibly, though I think unlikely, be booked for driving unreg and uninsured, which is $506 fine for each

I used to think we had it tough in QLD! Now I can appreciate what we have:
-no yearly inspections for rego
-no references to mods on rego papers
-no need for engineering paperwork once blue plate is fitted
-CTP insurance premiums which are a fraction of those charged in NSW and dont vary with postcode
-still plenty of engineers who will approve major mods/issue a blue plate for a fee of $50-$150
So really they are saying that car manufactures are trying to kill us! If you look at all the 2wd to 4wd variants (say Rodeo) that have the same body on them, as the bulletin says any trim height change more than 50mm will adversely affect handling and crumple zones. I don't think so, the whole think is a worthless load of crap and needs to be scrapped.

I can answer that one.. No rego was introduced for liability reasons that could have impacted heavily on a potential insurance claim if there was to be one.

I haven't presented one yet, I had booked an appointment for Monday where I planned to present several hundred letters that have been thus far presented to me in addition to a petition. I got a phone call this morning telling me of the National Parties stance and would I still like to have the appointment, and got the Email as a follow up.

well i dont know anything about the shooters party but i would tend to presume they may well a fair few of them use 4wd's to go shooting or am i think in the hole wrong direction ?

They define trim height as the top of your wheel arches. How it is going to be enforced, I have no idea. I highly doubt they have the OE trim height of an 83 LWB Sierra.
They are also yet to define this conditional rego AFAIK.
I just hope common sense wins this battle.

in england we have had many anti 4x4 laws, problem is everyone just shouts about it, then starts arguing amongst themselves, whats needed is an organised and coodinated protest. im in the process of moving to nsw, bringing my lifted 4x4 with me. ive been in constant comunication with nsw rta regarding my plans, found out about it on here. about a week before they even gave me a list of test centres who would approve the modifications, nice. this has cost me thousands already and the cars not even in australia!

so a possible loophole may be to "lower" the wheel arch?
such as modifying flares to sit very low, on 80 series for example?
