what diff ratios?

hey guys

i have a 92 ford maverick just trying to find out what ratios my diffs are?

it is a 4.2 petty on gas

how can i tell or can anyone tell me what they would be?

There is no hard and fast rule.

As long as nobody has changed them, look on ur I.D. plate under the bonnet, it will say Axle, and then have stamped Hxx, being either 39, 41, 43, 46

Explains itself from there.

Otherwise put it on stands and count revolutions of the wheels compared to revolutions of the axle.

its just that i got a front diff which is 4.1 with a locker in it

Chances are pretty high that you will have 4.1's, but check ur i.d. plate as well, then if you are still not confident that the ratio's haven't been changed out by another owner, try the turning method

Otherwise check the crown when you pull the centre. It will have 39-8 or similar. divide large number by small number for ratio.

hi man

other it being stamped on the ID plate

if its an auto it will be 3.9
BUT

if its a manual, being a maverick, it may be 4.1 ( most) it may be a 3.9 also.

you sure? it will definatly have something like hg39 or hg41 etc.
