fitting soild axle in ifs 4 runner
Building project now got a 93 toyota 4 runner and v8 84 hilux .
cutting out ifs and placing the soild diff out of the 84 lux ,as well a motor transplant just for that little extra power . Just found out i need to have the lift done and pasted with in 2 week otherwise wont be able to get it past for rego . If anyone has had some experenice in this , can i still get away with the standered ifs steering will it clear the leaf springs and become like a high steer ? or do i need to go with the high steer kit from the 84 model ?. The front springs i have are 4 inch raised and i am using the rear leaf in the front of the car so the diff moves forward just that bit more to help on aproch angle. THANKS

basically your options would be get a high steer kit from superiour engineering, will have everything you need to suit your ifs box, or get a bundera pitman arm a cast or welded(welded wont pass rwc) double arm for the passenger side nuckle and make ur own arm out of a shortend steering arm. hope this helps

I did the same conversion to mine, i used an 80 series one, its the strongest one and gives lots of room for the spring to tuck and for the steering arm i made my own out of 20 mil thick 4140 steel but you have to get an engineer to make it or if your a good welder, get one to inspect it. DO NOT WELD TO THE CAST ONE. i took measurements at full tuck and droop to set it up perfectly or superior sells them and for the draglink cut down a hilux tierod to suit.

If he uses bundera steering links, then he will have to use a high pinion centre, so he may be ok as far as how much movement is required from the uni's.
I still run the std IFS front shaft & uni's, just had the length changed to suit.

Bundera steering links and high pinion biff are hard to find, its a good idea tho, didnt think of that one .
I tried that but couldnt get the tailshaft to droop enough with the cardinal joint so then cut down a rear shaft but ran out of spline so i ended up with a box steel shaft ,
a mate of mine welded a hole 75 series coil front end in, diff, drop boxes, steering the hole lot.

High pinion diff are easy to ge, they are the same on Bundy's, 80's, 78 & 79 series.
For the links & arms, just visit the wreckers or post up a wanted ad
Use a 75 series drag link rod and a panhard that matches your diff of choice, or get them made if your chasing more strength.
Make the choice on which diff your going to use, then work out what you will need to make it work.
IMO a 60 or 78/79 series would be the go depending on the end use.
