GQ Patrol Intermittent Electric Window Problem

Post by patrol2pathy »

I have an intermittent fault with the drivers electric window in my GQ Ti & was wondering if any body might have a circuit diagram of the system they might be able to PM me? Thanks in advance.

I have removed the motor today and just slipped on a manual winder for now.

I have just finished putting the control panel back together after pulling it apart & cleaning the switch contacts.

Will let everybody now if it has worked or not tomorrow after I, hopefully, get it back in the car.

After cleaning the switch contacts last night & running a multimeter across it, I hooked it all back up this morning... No joy thou.

So I applied power directly to the motor & operates freely in both directions.

I guess, through the process of elimination, that leads next to the motor regulator/amplifier. What ever the black box is hanging off the side of the motor.

Now I just have to chase one up.

I do love thou, that manual & electric window GQ's have the same window regulator so I can slip a manual crank handle on while I figure this out.

I pulled the Amp Unit off of the winder motor & pulled it apart during my break time at work tonight.

I found that there was a corroded solder joint on the circuit board & have now cleaned it up.

Will put it together again tomorrow & see what happens then.

Don't want to buy a new one. Rung Nissan & they want $434. I thought he may have quoted me for the Motor & Amp Unit. But he said to me "No thats just the Amp Unit".

"Thats extremely expensive, I might ring around the wreckers" was my response.

Southside 4x4 Wreckers can get me one for $85. Minden said that these go as soon as they come in, so hopefully this might help some others to save their coin.

But here's hoping I wont need it & I can get a GU center console with cup holder instead.

After re-soldering the bad solder joint on the Amp Unit, all is now well.

Very similar to the problem with the in-dash clocks in the Patrols.

Hope this helps some others, so as not to have to part with any of their hard earned.

So I got myself a GU center console with cup holders, which will be my next big job.

Cheers
