turbo for hilux

Post by tim's lux »

i have a ln106 2.8 diesel and i need more power now the engine has been rebuilt but 175000 km ago people have told me a turbo running 6 lb should be fine but how do you know how strong the engine is or would i just be better of wainting a bit and get a second hand 5l with turbo i see them going on here for about 2500
Thanks Tim

Turbo

Post by Blinky900 »

I fitted a turbo 5k ago running 8psi it has given me 37% more power on the dyno i also thought about fitting a 5l but its not a straight c/o you have to change sump and a few other things. I picked up a turbo of a 2.8 for $700 bucks so it swayed my decision to stay with the 3l cheap power increase and the best part i took it away on the weekend up the high country and i didn't have put it in low range and i could keep up with the patrols
