Accelorator cable replacement
Changing the oil yesterday I noticed my accelerator cable was frayed in the visible section of it
As I need to get this done relatively quickly so I can use my car, I booked it in to the Garage, they ordered the part and all before I asked for a quote so I would feel bad for cancelling now, but was quoted $220-260 depending on whether it takes 30 mins or an hour, I should have asked them, but how much is the friggin cable worth?
I would have thought Labor would cost roughly 100ph ? So 160 for a a steel braided cable seems $$ to me ? Am I alone here or is that high haha
Edit: if it takes 40$ off for being done in 30 mins as opposed to an hour i guess labor is $80ph, that makes the cable $180 :(

I'll go out and have a look at how it works now.
The engine in my lux is the original 4y-C. Why bursons if its an original engine ? the repco one doesnt cut it ?
cheers.

Na all good, down her (VIC) bursons is a bit cheaper than repco but $40 sounds pretty good to me. 4Y should be easy job.CHIEF88 wrote:I'll go out and have a look at how it works now.

Burson at Brendale QLD reckons they only have accelerator cables for 4wd hiluxs up to 1984...
EDIT: confirmed at a different store they recommend I try Toyota themselves.
And supercheap don't do em at all.
Guess I'll go with the one from Repco Lawnton.
EDIT: For a bit of fun I called Repco Enoggera store, he said none of the repco stores would have a cable for a Yn67 4wd Hilux '87 with 2.2l 4y-c engine.
This got me a little worried because he sounded like he knew his stuff..
I re-phoned Lawnton store to check this and he says he has one in store for a Yn67 4wd Hilux '87 with 2.2l 4y-c engine. So one of them is wrong Guess I'll find out when I pickup the cable haha

For anyone who cares;
Just took the old cable out took maybe 5 minutes lol
I'm guessing the new cable will come with the protective sleeve too? because otherwise I got no idea how to connect the ends of the cable they look stamped on which would definitely be something I couldn't do haha

Once the new one is in you will be glad you had a go. And saved yourself many $$$ in the process
Yea thanks for convincing me to do it ..dillza_69 wrote: Told ya it was easy!

New cable fitted perfectly and was super easy to install.
