LJ70 Petrol, Whats it worth? Whats it like?

Post by fourby »

Hey guys, Haven't been around in a while since I sold my 60 series, But I was wondering if I could buzz your brains for a minute or so..

1985 LJ70 ( SWB bundera Landcruiser) for sale.
Has the "2.4"??? petrol in it. 5 speed man, new tyres, 12 rego. 350 thou K's on but apparently they seller "thinks" its had a rebuild because the engine is so strong..yet he has no paper work. I test drove it & for a 1.6 tonne truck it pulls fairly well.. But is what I wanted to know was that "red book" gives you bullshit values. I want a street value, not a book value.

Cheers in advance.
Luke.

I just bought a 1985 LX Bundera RJ70 - 2.4L, for $2250. Has 360000k, bugger all rust, but needed a bit of work on front bearings and brakes.

I wouldn't say strong, does appear to be a sluggish motor but seems to run fine. From what I have read in these forums, you could expect to get 500k from them if looked after. Having said this, I don't exactly know how well they ran when they were new, so its hard to draw a comparison on how much power if any it has lost over the years.
