Dramas with my fuel solenoid on the 60series
My fuel cut off on the 2h is activating by itself when ever i switch my high beam on, i can hear a relay clicking under the dash but cant find which one it is, i tried to feel them all but no good.
It happens every 10 sec or so whilst driving along, it is fine with no lights on so it has got me stuffed, all my lights are all properly wired into the high beam all soldered joins and all, no dodgy shite.
Any help would be worth some schooners!!

to cut a long story short, you probably have a bad earth on the engine.
the other possibility is a poor connection on the fuel shutoff oil pressure sensor.

Ok I am having the exact same problem with the edic cycling. Have read and searched on here everything on the subject. I have a brand new earth lead/terminals etc from the battery to the chassis and have cleaned every plug and earth lead to do with the edic but still have this problem very bad. With all the lights, spotties and everything else on it is cycling about every 3 - 4 seconds. With everything off it varies? Wtf else could it be? Could the actual fuel control relay be shagged?
Please help I'm at my wits end now

engine mounts are insulated by a big rubber block, you need an earth from the battery straight to the block. the head may also be partially insulated from the block. something you have done whilst installing your dual batteries has upset the earthing somewhere.turkey wrote:The earth lead from the battery is going to the bolt on the engine mount to the chassis. Forgot to add its only started happening since I installed my new dual battery system, but I have disconnected everything to do with that and its still doing it in a major way...
use a multimeter to check voltages between various places - block, chassis, battery terminal etc.

Cheers fellas. Well my "fuel control relay", the one that is clicking as it cycles is behind the passenger side kick panel and it all looks like factory fitment there to me? If the edic is shagged I'm guessing a new edic motor and fuel control relay? Any ideas on cost and where to get them from? Thanks blokes
Edit: Roger that dumbdunce will continue playing with the earth for tonight, I dont have a multimeter will have to get one off someone tomorrow cheers mate

Cheap multimeters at supercheap.
Good ones are worth their money tho.
Oh yes, just saw you hav a 75 series, in my 60 the glow plug relay on left kick panel and fuel control on right.
Too easy, hope you work it out, i have one here but i think its rooted.
I know a bloke who should have one, he is on ebay his storename is privateparts4wd.
He has a profile here too he is "turbo4t" his name is mick
I sent one in the post a few wks ago i sold it for $150 it cost me $5 to send there's an idea of the cost.
Good luck

My dad has a good multimeter will try and grab that off him tomorrow and see what the fark is wrong have traced everything back and disconnected everything bar the positive and negatives on the battery which are all brand new too and still no joy!

Oh yes i forgot to mention that, i thought it was a top idea, until i rolled it on its side and in all the rush im wondering why the mongrel wouldnt turn off with the key whilst on me side!!
Ended up stalling it tho, which was difficult with front drive shaft broken and both back wheels off the ground

Ok will try the multimeter thing tomorrow if I get the chance at work.
If no luck there then yeah I will take you up on the offer of the motor/relay whatever you have wozza. Will take pics tomorrow if needed thanks mate and send you whatever info ya need cheers!
Thanks for that dumbdunce wouldnt have thought of that cheers mate!
Just a bit of backstory incase it can shed some light. I have just put another second hand 2H in the Troopy after mine shit itself on the way back from Perth. Picked up motor on ebay from Melbourne. This motor had no edic or anything on it so swapped all my gear from the old motor onto this one so it was exactly the same setup as the old one. Fired up first time and has been running well for last 2 weeks!
Now last Friday installed a redarc solenoid and new second battery all wired up correctly with all new earth leads, positive leads, battery terminals, everything soldered correctly the works! Rolled out late last Friday arvo, switch on the headlights and voila this cutting out starts. so well I disconnected EVERYTHING to do with battery system/solenoid and still the same.
At first I thought it was a plug that I left off on the front passenger side which goes into the headlight loom I think with a small set of 3 fuses attached. Reconnected the plug and well fark me it stops! Been driving since last thurs night no dramas until this morning it starts again and I gets onto the OL oracle and find out about the edic and start about checking all earths etc as advised in this thread. As soon as I switch everything off its ok. Light up the headlights, Lightforces etc it cycles like mad every 3 seconds.... Anyway just thought I add all this incase it helps. Thanks for the help so far blokes much appreciated!

Just been reading up a bit on edic"s, learn something new everyday . So if I'm correct all this thing does basically does is shut down the fuel/engine by cutting off the fuel via the ignition right? Does it really serve any other purpose? And by disconnecting it and jury rigging the lever with a cable etc to shut it off, would it have any other problems?
Thanks wozza will get out and get a pic of the relay plug in the morning its pitch black out there and my cameras not too flash...
