How do you service a 100s V8 Auto G/Box

As the title says how do you do it.. Can not find any filler tube or plug to put the fluid back in....

It has a drain plug in the pan to drop the oil but no fill tube or plug....

Have searched the net and on here (maybe i cant use the search function properly) and cant find a thing..

Drop the pan?

That said, I have filled a few via the dipstick tube.

But there is no filler tube or fill plug on this G/box. So i dont want to drop the pan and find I cant refill it

It a early 100 series with a 4.7 V8 and even the book doesn't say when to service the auto trans.. But you must be able to service it, it cant be sealed for life

Are you sure it doesnt have a fill plug in the side like the CrapWarner box in the Falcons? (conveniently located next to the exhaust for which you have to check hot, another reason I dont like them, all the burn marks on the back of my hands :bad-words: ).

I think you will find they are sealed for life. Im pretty sure the new range rovers are as well.

I sublet mine out to my transmission specialist. Toyota say every 40K (should be in your service book). From what I've seen they have two bungs on the pan. 1 is the drain and the other is a check bung that I assume has a tube going up internally to the oil level point. You'll probably see how it works when you pull the pan off to replace the filter (if you are going to properly service it). You pump the new oil in with a filler nozzle long enough to go up the tube far enough to fill the box and stop when it starts to run out.

Yeah ok this thing is starting to play up and the customer wants it serviced....

Sealed for life is a bit hard to follow as the oil has to break down after being driven for so many thousand klms and in the later model 100s the auto is servicable..

Might have to get the guy in and have a good look at the transmission and see if we can find that 2nd plug

I talked to a bloke in the Toyota teck department, and as a few have said on here they really cant be serviced, (i have a 06 100series auto and asked toyota same question), and was told they are basically a sealed unit and the oil is in there for the life of trans, and if for some reason the trans is damaged or leaking then this is the only time it will be pulled upart for the duration of its life, they only know of two faulty trans since this bloke has been in the tech dep,
i also asked about heavy use towing etc but still no service
So to basically answer the question dont touch the auto for the life of the car

the new commodores with the 6 speed have 2 holes in the bottom one for filling and one for draining. u have to get the auto to running temp and open it and if the oil comes out from there once warm its full. but they fill in there also.

The oil isnt oil, its a light hydraulic synthetic fluid, which does not break down over time, but is succeptable to over-heating.
