But get your tickets quick to get in the draw......

Been a bit quiet while I get things organised for the Outlaws Comp but I’m happy to say it’s been a successful week!
Ragged Edge has just officially signed Vic based SOLID AXLE INDUSTRIES as the naming rights sponsor for the 2010 Outlaws Competition.
If you haven’t heard of Solid Axle Industries before you definitely will in the following months. Solid Axle is well known in the USA for making bomb proof Dana 60 differentials (and Dana 44s & Dana 80s) for some of the countries top Rock Crawlers and Rock Racers. From what I hear they are some of the strongest equipment on the market and in the States that’s saying a lot.
Solid Axle has been the quiet achiever in Aust over the last few years with victories in several Rock-Crawling comps and many of the top runners using their equipment. They placed top 5 in the last Tuff Truck AND last month the winner of Cliffhanger was running Solid Axle Dana 60’s in their blown GQ winch truck! My prediction is these diffs will very quickly become the choice of any serious wheeler no matter what sort of driving they’re into. Check out www.solidaxle.com.au for details.
Personally I’ve had several issues keeping the front diffs alive in my three ‘Drive Package’ buggies so they’re all being sent to Solid Axle to get the full treatment. I’ve asked Danny at Solid Axle to tick all the boxes so I’m keen to see what he comes back with; after seeing this stuff in person I’m confident it’ll be a bullet proof combination. Pics to follow.
Solid Axle are opening their doors direct to the public so we’ve decided to invite everyone down to a launch at their Carrum Downs location in October (exact date next week). We’ve also decided that this makes a fitting time to give away the Tuff Truck winning FJ40 so we’ve postponed the draw till then (sorry to those counting the days). The first 2,000 still go in the draw to WIN the truck.
Back to the Outlaws Comp I’ve almost got a full grid but we've decided we want more. Several of the top Rock Crawlers in the country are keen to come out and play so we'll be giving them a place to compete too! The weekend pass cost will still be the same: two comps for the price of one.
The issue I've been working through this week is we don't have enough room to run both comps at Mt Cottrell so I'm on the hunt for a new location. I have three so far with pro's and con's and hope to have the location sorted in the next week or two.
Almost one and half million people will see the Ragged Edge segment on 'Getaway' which airs in the next few weeks and Ragged Edge Gift Vouchers will shortly be available in Myer and Dymocks so I'm hoping I can translate that exposure into spectators at the comp.
The new website is up too: www.raggededge.com.au. It's only been up half a day and already I have to update it.
Thanks for the support guys; this is getting BIG.

Shoot me details of how many you're after and a postal address via the website: chris@raggededge.com.au and I'll shoot back details. Alternatively you can call Rally Motors (03) 5222 1777 in the morning and order tickets over the phone.
As you can see the new website still has some teething problems but we're getting there.

The idea is great, the execution is where it falls over.....
The comp in vic in feb 2010, has had no exposure that i have seen anywhere (and i have been looking) except for on forums like this one...so if your not already a 4x4 person already, your not going to hear about it...this is why you have only sold 68 tickets...slightly shy of the 2000 mark that you keep saying are disapearing fast....
Marketing 101 is to get it out to the masses that are then going to be talking about it around the water cooler on Monday morning @ work.....
Get the comp deatils out to the population by getting onto Simon from Your4x4 & 4wdtv, the guys at Going 4wd, a listing in the upcoming Aust 4wd Action/Custom mags, late night tv adds, do a display in Fed Square at lunch time, put a few rigs on trucks and drive around the city ect ect.
This is a no brainer mate, you say in your other thread (http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/ftopic181815-0-asc-0.php) that after 5780 hits <2% are interested in Vic, this is because your offering a 2 day ticket for $55....never going to work, because average Joe is not coming on both days, he is going to bring the family on 1 day and then talk about it to friends on Monday...
It sounds silly, but the public think, ohh so they only offer 2 day tickets, screw it i am not going on both days, so I won't go at all...
They also think $55 is a tad expensive for 1 day (belive me, i have mentioned this event to friends and they all said the same thing....$55 each and a few kids, some food and drinks and it turns out to be a very expesive day out)
People also don't like to prepay for things, because they are then tied to something....
The door prize of a comp ready tuff truck is very cool...for you and I,BUT what on earth is Joe public going to do with it if they win.....just stick it in the garage...unless your in the scene the prize is of no real use to anyone....
I know I sound like a know it all, but I am just stating what the "average Joe" perception is....
I am coming to the event, as long as there are tickets on the door, that I can buy on the day, I am also trying to get my non 4x4 friends to come along.
Please take this as constructive criticism...

sadly I have been forced to sign out of this shitGRIMACE wrote:sign me up for this shit!
Out of all the days of the year, I now have to go to enzed for a wedding on the exact date
Still gonna buy a ticket!
Can we make sure there is lots of streeming and online video of the event so I can wank, I mean 'watch' it from the land of the long white cold turd.
edit: I can also allow someone less fortunate to use my ticket as entry to the event if need be!
Constructive criticism is when you send it as a PMcruzinnboozn wrote:The idea is great, the execution is where it falls over.....

Hey Guys,
Thanks 3.8 Bundy but I happen to agree with 'Cruzinnboozn'. The plan was to create some profile with the yellow truck giveaway with specific marketing to the 4wd fraternity (who would appreciate the prize) then closer to the date step it up with Billboard/ TV marketing so non 4wd foke could come for a gander: single day pass for $30ish, family passes, ect.
Unfortunately unless I find someone to take over the running of the event I have to cancel it because I'm just not getting it done. Ragged Edge is pursuing Rock Racing and I can't spend the time required to do what Cruzzin states which is actually just what is needed.
I'm very sorry to have inconvenienced everybody and I know some of the Competitors are very disappointed. People who have pre-purchased Tickets will have their money refunded directly.
Again my apologizes.

Chris I like your passion. I think you should be going about things the other way around, why not concentrate on running the outlaws comp and doing everything and more that cruzinboozin was on about to create some sort of public awareness about the sport and its capacity to both inform and entertain people and showcase what your "getting paid to rock race" businesses are all about?
it would be the perfect launch to give potential stakeholders in the business a real life version of what they could be involved in.
Don't can the outlaws comp. you have competitors lined up, people paid up, and the very real prospect of pushing a potential business partner over the line by seeing the end result of where their investment will get them to.

I'd say that with mention of refunds coming, no, the comp won't be running.DSPIES wrote:hate to dig up a dying thread but is this event still going ahead?
Rock racing in Australia, I can see that one going a long way. You must love loosing money.

It can be run in a relatively small area on any number of sites, media can cover it easier than other long distance sports, also good to spectate over a bigger area compared to say a stage at Tuff Truck, and there arnt enough comps to go to at the moment.
Admittedly there's issues behind the scenes that need work, but what management or business doesn't havem.
I am really surprised at the lack of tickets sold for this, its a real shame.

I totally agree Troy, we need more events closer to sydney- newcastle, there is alot of big trucks in this area and no where to compete in them. The main reason is the insurance i think and thats only so high from just a few Dickheads that think they can make money out of getting hurt.
