Luke,
I am not able to sign off on it but the offer is still there if you want me to have a look at it. What were the concerns with regards to? Center of gravity?? It shouldn't be too hard to look at the stresses involved and make a quick assesment anyway if it is going to meet requirements. I still ahve a copy of the light vehicle modification code also if you want to borrow it.

Cheers

dood the engineer i take it to isn't going to do it because he thinks the angle of the steering arm and panhard is to great and would cause excessive bump steer ...

WHAT BUMP STEER?

they are parallel with each other im assuming the arc they would swing on would be the same there for it wouldn't turn the steering on a bump ..
i'll get some pics if i can

What's the deal with needing an engineer? I didn't think you could get a lift engineered in QLD?

If that drawing is realistic, then they are NOT parallel.

Luke,
I will ahve a look in the modification code to see what is defined as "excessive bump steer" It should be as simple as then measuring the bump steer that is present and if it exceeds the requirements we just look at booty fabing something that will work. If that is his only concern then we should be fine.

i didn't think it was possible to engineer a 5-link in qld.....it was illegal full stop :? ...... thats not including the 5" lift? however i hope i'm wrong and if you get that signed off i would love to know who you used. i would pay big dollars for this :D

I'm a little confused here :? A 5" lift in QLD, even if engineered, must still be illegal under our stoopid laws

So why get it engineered? Just to show cops if you're inspected, hope they see the engineers report, don't know any better and let you off????

Waste of time getting much 'engineered' in qld cause DOT still have the last say and a lift of that size is too big under their rules.
An engineer could go over ya whole car an approve mods are done properly etc, but if anything ever happened (ie crash) you may as well wipe your ass with the engineer cert cause it is all it will be good for.
In QLD some things are just not allowed and no amount of engineering will help

BUT we don't want to start this up again do we!!!
