U shud be rite to grease up a drill bit and gently drill a hole with it on the car, wud be better to take the sump off tho.
If you get a tapered fitting u can wind it in till it bites in solid then use sum loctite thread sealer around the edges to seal it and hold it firm. Just ensure u position it up high but in between the cylinders so the crankshaft counter weights wont come anywhere near it.
goin to pick up a sump from the wreckers today so i can get it brazed through the week. I only want to have to take it off once. I dont want recurring problems.
Question for when i get it brazed is it ok to just drill a hole then but the nut up to the side of the sump an braze around it or should i turn half of the hex so its round and is flush with the inside of the sump?
ill just swap them over next weekend. Anyone lookin for a perfectly good 2.8 IFS sump after next weekend pm me.

While you have the sump off you should do the big ends
Remember some days your the pigeon and other days your the statue
FYI, i had this same problem with mine when i done it, oil return via alternator was too restricted and had bulk oil comn out the exhaust, so i screwed a 3mm piece of aluminium to the sump with blue maxx inbetween the 2 then drilled and tapped thru the aluminium w/ 5/8 tap and ran the oil return straight into the sump no problems with it since.
Is this problem just with IFS or is the oil drain the same size with the solid axle lux?
Is it possible to just re-tap the standard one bigger or would it be best to just make a new hole and braze a nut on like in the pics?
Also check that your turbo isn't being fed too much oil. I ran a restrictor fitting (2mm orifice) in the feed line of mine which fixed the problem. But it does depend on the turbo, some can handle the volume, some can't. Seems strange that both front AND rear seals would 'fail' at the same time.
