Bundera Problems

Post by Zook_Fan »

Here is a quick intro. I own a 91 sierra and love the car, but i fear that if i break it I am walking to work . I have been on the look out for a cheap car for a little while. At the same time my brother has been rebuilding a bundera for about three years now. Just the other day he bought a 3.8 V6 for it but after looking at the cost of getting it in he is now looking at sticking it in a gemini and sell the bundy. I offered an amount and he agreed, so now i just have to make sure it is worth it.

The original body was full of rust but he sourced a new body to be put on. We got the new body on just a couple of months ago and it is all wired up. It is 86 bundy with a 85 body, is this a problem? Any problems with rego?

It is running a 2L-T and the engine goes and has a bigger turbo on it but because it hasn't been run in a while the injector pump has started to get a leak in it. Anyone know if you can get these reconditioned? If so how much? Or what are they worth to buy a new one?

Also because it has been sitting so long the bushes in the sway bar are perished and need replacing, what are these worth?

He says it needs new shocks but unless it is picked up in inspection they can wait til i get a lift and spend that money then. This reasonable or should i just buy some stock length ones for now?

Again because of the length of time since use the master and slave cylinders will need to be replaced in the brakes and clutch, what are these worth? Was going to put a new clutch in at the same time just so I don't have to worry about it.

Anything else that would need to be looked at? Any extra info?

I think that is all for now, if you could help that would be great :).

To give you an idea, I just purchased an 85 Bundera for $2250. It only has rust in the gutter sill around 2cm long, and no other rust. It was ACT rego'd, but to get a blue slip in NSW it needed front bearings, front rotors, front brakes front brake lines and I also got new hubs put in it. Total cost $1800.

Therefor I now have a good runner, minimal rust, and basically new front end for $4000.

Hope this helps as a guide.

Cheers

well my purhase price is a lot less than that but my biggest concern at the moment is the injector pump.

i was hoping to spend around $1500 all up fixing it all up doing as much as i can but the only price that is in my head is what my old man was quoted for his GQ pump which was $1300 and there is no point in me buying the car if that is the price as it is out of my budget and it would just sit there and get rust in the new body.

2lt pumps on ebay all the time if not the import wreckers can be quite reasonable freight isnt that much in most cases.
you do take your chances on ebay but you can get lucky
Keep it shiny side up!
Now doing general fab work and painting
trays, trailers, engine swaps on request, some tube work, silo section sliders, rust repairs, ute chops etc

yeah i see that and there are new ones for like $350 or something for the 2L-TE, does anyone know what the difference between pumps is or if you could use the 2L-TE and mod it some how?

well i have just bought this but i am going to go a totally different route to my initial plan. It is going to end up an unregistered comp truggy based off a sierra body. So if anyone needs bundera panels, i have them all and they are all pretty straight. PM me.

plan has been changed. the parts needed from the suzy have been sold and i have been told to either fix or sell the bundy so it will be one of those two but i am thinking that i will just fix it up. not too much work for the outcome.
