When its done you are more than welcome to come down for a drive.
If you intend to be driving in rock garden type areas the wheelbase doesnt really matter, if anything the short wheelbase is more of an advantage. Wheelbase only really becomes an issue when ledges come into it. If you want to climb big ledges like the soup bowl you will need some long wheelbase, that wont be possible if you intend to keep the full body on your zook and manage to keep its daily driving duties.
Do you currently have the (Hilux) diff's? I've got some stockers I'm no longer going to use that's all (I'm only going to put in W/Tracks now, which I'm looking to acquire.....)
Appoligies for cutting in, but give me a call on my mobile (0402083273) or PM me as we might be able to help each other out, especially since your 'local'.

grimbo wrote:Also Hilux gear is certainly not indestructible either don't the Toyota crowd go to profields/longfields for 33" and over when locked and geared?
One of the guys i work with has a soft top zook running 33/11.5/15 JT2s on hilux/bundera axles with lockrights front and rear and stock CVs with 5.29 gears. It has had this set up for almost 2 years and is still running the original stock CVs. This guy will try and drive anywhere myself and Sam drive and usually after a lot of attempts and a lot of wheelspeed he will get there.
If you have a zook on 33s with Zook axles and you are not breaking anything you need to find some harder lines.
Agreed , we limit our traction by tyre pressure when on a trip, keep it ten to eight, reasnoble reliable with a delicate right,
The moment you drop to five psi and add some steerlock, GEt the tools out ,Its a bit disapionting from the the fun factor . You know the car is capable of x obsticle Traction wheelbase gearing , But don't give it its full
reign as 80% chance one of your buddys will be snatching you for the rest of the obsticles, That aint fun
The zook diffs will wear 35s in mud and soft stuff all day, come play on the rock and hear the carnage

that's fine but I have 34s with lockers and have had for a couple of years and haven't broken anything either. but our driving in Vic is on mud and low traction surfaces so with have give when driving when compared to driving on rock.
About the Bundy/hilux stuff what is the stregth issue on them as my experience with them is zero but you read about the Birfields on them being weak or is that because of the extra weight of the hilux and then bigger tyres. what size tyre is the borderline of big enough but also small enough not to break birfields?
Heres a pic of a zook cv that broke with no impact straight ahead position on 35s, it just couldn't handle the gearing you can see only the cracks no ball carnage, it also took the spline of the axle end once the 'star' was cracked .Four cracks arrowed.

Hey Dozoor - looking at that pic, i can see some "blue-ing" of the metal around the outside of the cv (one where the crack is)...
I'm just wondering if that indicates that heat (perhaps due to a lack of lubrication - grease) could have been part of the cause for the failure?
Greg the blueing is cost free you get this with a brand new c/v Its actually from the machining at the factory .If you measure the thickness of the bell at this piont where the blueing is you will find only 4mm of material there.
This one was running the ducks guts in cv lube hehe Kotex moly.

I think you'll find these aren't very tall Redzok - one could even refer to them as being quite short
I think Luv_Mud's running 35 claws on his car - that's be more your deal i reckon
I quite like them .. they really suck in the wet on the road, but offroad they are pretty good .. They are not all that tall brand new they are slightly of 34inches tall (I mean very slightly) on 15x8's at 18psi.
They seem to grip pretty well in mud and rock etc ....
I would run them again ..
