U r asking 4 trouble no matter what aaron. DON'T DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR:
FIRSTLY: Till u got it coz it is still mine!!!!!
SECONDLY: U have gone and done a few MONTHS (like 4 or 5) of all different types of wheeling when u got ur license
THIRDLY: Until u got enough money 4 everything coz u cant do anything while you r on your learrners.
I will admit to myself that i wish i had done some wheeling while it was stock because i cant 4wd that well yetand its probably because i did mods and i should have waited till i knew what i was doing first. I will admit i am still a learner.
And then u will do all this, be stupid out there trash it, get in trouble by a lot of people coz that car is a good truck and you wrecked it and then you have wasted all that money.
Learn how to drive first. Dont even touch the suspension, leave the parabolics in and see how you go coz they dont need replacving yet and have enough 'flex' for whatever you wnat to do. Dont rush in to it, you will regret it.

i guess everyones 'road to wheeling' is different lol it will be interesting to see how mine turns out (never give a 16 yr old enough money to do what he wants )

I'm not saying not to do what u want, just make sure u do it at the right time.
Take 83 lux for example.
-Got new tires
-Got an air locker
-waited a while and wheeled like that 4 a few months
- Put new tray on and rollbar
- Got bigger tires
His experience built up and now he can tackle harder shiat.
Save up HEAPS of money so you know u have it then use it when the time is right. Its that simple.

Apart from the great tech advice given by others, I still reckon SNAFU has given the best advice yet.
We all have dreams of what our rigs should be, but the realities of life don't always allow them to happen. Money that you put aside for q78s will prolly go towards rego. Money for the locker will prolly go toward the brake rebuild, money for the twin cases might have to be spent on traffic fines and DOT inspections...not even to mention the stuff you will break along the way while learning.
Just get the thing and drive it. You will get less respect on here and on the trails if you have a machine that is awesome, but you don't know the first thing about lines, balance, acceleration and that gut feeling about an obstacle. Learn how to drive, make mistakes and learn from them, have fun without the lengthy process of a buildup hampering your seat time, get to know the rig without all the fancy mods covering up all the mistakes of poor driving skills and knowledge. Then, when when you do the mods they will enhance the skills you already have, and allow you go harder on the trails.
Ya just gotta do your time as an apprentice...there is no fast track.

Built, not bought.
to tell u the truth i totally believe everything snafu says and when im learning to 4 wheel i will have a pretty stock car and believe me i will have alot of trouble getting places with it what my arguement is well i have money atm and as soon as im paying for fuel, and things i break i wont be able to save any money for mods etc. so i will get the mods now just not put them on the car as i have the money, if i dont get it now and keep my money i am surely to spend it on something else. i know it will be at least 6 months after my licence before i acturlly put the mods on that will improve off road performance. i dont clame to know how to drive, cuase we all know i cant but when i can sorta drive i want to be able to improve the car's abilities to try harder and tougher lines inexperience to me isnt a bad thing, cuase i have some of the best people to learn off to get the experience i need
engine tune ups, exo's, lockers aint really a bit consern for me atm (if u saw at the start of this topic i was just meerly surgesting the idea to get opinions on weather i should get one), but what is is that i have a car that i can wheel with and have fun in
anyway thanks for everyones imput and advise, this is so educational

just get a winch, recoverys are heaps of fun. i know, ive watched a few
and with a winch you can make money... say 50 bucks a pop
i recon you will be surprised how far you can go unlocked with good tyres. of course youll go further locked but some of the fun comes from getting stuck. and it helps knowing your limits.
and i just picked up a good second hand centre with ARB for 900. you dont always have to buy brand new.

AZA put the money away until youve got enough experience to know what you need, if you go out and buy all this stuff now cause you have the money, you might regret what you bought after wheeling abit , what you might find is what you bought isn't gunna help you drive the terrain the way you thought it would previous to actually getting out there and driving it. drive it pick different lines find your vehicles short comings than rectify .
also if you think you won't be able to modify your truck when paying for fuel etc , than save that money for repairs cause if your driving it to its limits it will need them , no point having good tyres lockers etc and stuffed cv's that you carn't afford to repair
but don't kid yourself money can always be found to modify ones vehicle, just takes time

if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION
set your limits way beyond your abilities
