Hilux front axle seal

Post by Willy Hilux »

Does anyone know the size of the front axle seal that sits inside the knuckle on a solid axle setup???

I want to make up a seal drift while I'm at work to make the job easier in the future of seal replacment.

Is there a maket for these??

Just use a socket and extension bar they go in real easy. I wouldnt buy a drift if there was a specific one available. Which there probably is.

Bearing race and seal instaler would probaly be the "proper" tool for it but the socket does the trick.
plenty of parts on the bench

Doesn't look like anyone can help out with the sizes. I like to have one as my knuckles are damaged from cv's exploding and if ya got to do one in the bush I would like the the seal to go in square the first time.

Look on the marlin crawler site - he has them for sale. Why buy when I get paid to make it. :D Also it will be out of S/Steel.

the ed of the axel seal is 44mm, so probably about 42mm for your tool should be ok.

All done. Will test it out Wednesday to see if they are worth making. Looks like it will work.

I made it so the seal will sit on a stub then pushed from behind to keep it square when tapped in.
