wanting to know how much a set of roof racks would be as I am going to put a basket on them for straddie off my dads prado. I would just use his but his are gutter mounted and I need some for the roof at the back of the feroza. Do they cost more if one is gutter mounted and the other rack is roof mounted,
Sorry for these silly questions but this is my first major trip without my old man and his swanky prado. I am going with two other fourby's (a dual cab hilux and a two door vitara)with drivers who have never gone fourbying before so I want to be extra prepared for the trip.

roof racks
have hundreds of mods planned by the year 2020
I've got some Rola's, they seem good (came on the Feroza when I bought it.) They've got a website www.rola.com.au from memory that's got online prices. I think they retail for around $280 a pair?
Rhino make a simlar product too, as well as Thule.
Get the front rack as high as possible off the roof- otherwise you won't be able to open the sunroof.

or do what i did... i bolted my roof cage directly onto the hard top. you can go to a welder and have it made easily and then bolt it directly on to your hard top using washers nuts, bolts, a drill, some sealant, some rubber strips to go between the rack and hardtop itself, and the app. tools... look at the pictures below and you will see what i did... you could follow the same design if you like. i used 3 bolts on each side, drilled through and used a washer on top AND bottom... they are roughly 6 inches apart from eachother in a straight line. you COULD make yours wider and have it hang over the window a bit, this was my orignal plan but i decided instead to line it up with my lighting bar as well... i used expanding metal, its cheap, strong, and light. the walls are 4 inches tall. if you need more info, i'll be glad to provide.
