Radiator Plumbing

Post by NJV6 »

Gidday,

Can anyone tell me how to plumb up a radiator to a 3.9 which uses a header tank when I want to run the radiator on the rear?

Here is the flow diagram (except it has number 5 and 6 around the wrong way)

I'd prefer not to run the header tank as it's just more fussy. Can I simply join the plenum return hose to the top radiator hose? As that is the only real issue as far as I can see.

Any other/better suggestions?

You can just blank off both of the plenum hoses, and ditch the plate that warms the plenum. It's pretty superfluous.

Just run the top and bottom radiator hoses to your rear mounted radiator. If the rear mounted radiator has its own pressure cap you just need an overflow bottle. If it doesn't have a pressure cap then you obviously need a pressurised header tank to control the cooling system pressure.
This is not legal advice.
