Removing Cam Gear - 3L

Post by Weiner »

Hi guys,

Since I can't afford the engine conversion for the meantime, gunna fix the ol 3L, but having trouble getting the bolt that holds the cam gear on.

Any secrets? Rattle gun or breaker bar doesn't get it off, any way to lock the camshaft in place so we can get it out?

Cheers.

Have you tried doing it up with both those items just in case its reverse threaded. And even if not sometimes this is all it takes to break the seal and then you can undo.

Might have to get the brothers mates 3/4 incher.

The breaker bar would work but the camshaft just spins.

the camshaft should have a hex or some flats on it so you can put a big shifter on it to undo the nut. somewhere near the middle.

there is a narrow hex, and also some lugs further along, that you could put shifter on.

Correct.

And its not a left hand thread like someone mentioned above.
