Drove from Melbourne to Cliffhanger fully loaded in car and camper trailer with stuff for 3 blokes (lot's of liquids) and then some. Got about 22l/100k but that was including shocking economy while at the event. Without that tank used for the week, it may/should have gone under 20.vanbox wrote:
Has anyone done long distance remote touring in a 4.8?

seems defeat the purpose of owning a car when you afraid of drive it... would be depressing... most guys quoting best fuel figures where as others quote averages.......... fuel consumption discusting end of story. is not a race car but a daily driver 9 times out of 10.
just change all up buy yr old 4.2 cruiser pov pack then turbo and mod....
or toughen up buy a 3 or do 6L conversion...
or simply put big hrs into finding the latest mod 4.2 you can turbo or not and hope the old guy who owns it does not now what its worth...
see problem solvered narrowed it down phipsey... you owe me a beer!

Perfect clear as mud,
I guess it is all good to not worry about fuel when you don't have to pay for it
22/100 fully loaded is alright, the 4.2s doing up to 17-18/100 when loaded and sitting on 110kph.
I was going to say at least petty's cheaper - but then I remembered all you guys are running on premium
Did get to see a 4.5 light it up on cement the other day - that's just added argument to the 4.8 case
