Hi again, another issue with my car, '89 GQ SWB, hopefully the last.
I bought my car 3 days ago and I was told it had a new clutch just put in, ie. the day before I bought it. When driving it now the pedal fades after about 1km, I then can pump it up and it works again. Also after the car has been parked for a while I come back and the pedal can drop to the floor, when I pump it the pedal returns.
Has anyone had similar problems? Master or slave cylinder buggered? Air in the lines?
If so where is the bleeding nipple for the clutch as I have never owned a nissan before (I used to own a subaru and dad's range rover(i bent it too many times so he wouldn't let me drive it anymore)

Thanks, hopefully i will be able to repay all your good advice someday, i'm still learning :D

yeah, bleed it from the slave cylinder. mine gets air in it occasionally too, it is a bastard..

Hmmm, doesn't really sound like air in the lines to me. Sounds like the seals in either the master or slave cylinders have gone around the piston. Seems like fluid is bypassing the piston causing the pedal to fade. Are you losing any fluid from either the slave or master cylinder?

Not sure about patrols, but on my cruiser i have a spring return on the clutch pedal as well which stops it from hitting the floor when there is no back pressure in the clutch system.

Although having said that, it could be air, but it would have to be a lot if the pedal can make it all the way to the floor.

I can't see any fluid loss and the fluid resevoir isn't going down, I will have a go at bleeding it tonight when my dad comes home.

It is so annoying not being able to drive my new car! :cry:

Itll be most likely bleed back in master cylinder
BUT 1st there is a bleeder near rear of firewall on top of inner guard that need to be bled. Start there. It looks like a block with a bleeder on it.

I needed a new slave cylinder, Sandy replaced the master whilst he was at it as well, thanks for your help

I jsut put a piston kit in my master cylinder ($50 from nissan). Only prob is the cylinder has a large scratch down the side. And since we didn't have any emery paper it is still there and is leaking again. Not happy, but then again should have done it properly the first time.
