Well the entries are coming in for this one. I will start the list:-
Dave Burrows
Peter Bannister
Rodney Rathbone
Grant Sweetman
Steve Quinn
Paul Gamble
Phil Swindale
I have just been informed that Phil Swindale is coming out in force. He is the first competitor here in Australia that has been offered a drive in a factory backed brand new competition vehicle to use at the ARB XWC and if all goes well at other events around the country.
They must not be aware of what he has done to vehicles in the past, his driving might change now as someone else pays the bills.
Anyway Phil, good on you.
BTW I forgot to tell you what it is
IT IS A POLARIS, A REAL FARM TRUCK FITTED WITH A 2 OR 3000LB WINCH.
He also wants to give everyone a fair chance so he will not be fitting free spool or a 24v system.
This type of vehicle may lead anywhere? even its own event. Now that would be fun.
Cheers
David

YES it almost complies with all the XWC rules and regs and this is just a one off.
NO it will NOT be competing for outright points or places, we are running it to gauge opinion/reaction on maybe creating a whole new class of 4x4/ATV racing that is big in the U.S. Rudi and Steve were happy to see it compete at this years Cliffhanger but we ran out of time.
YES, if any competitors want to have a go in this machine at Manilla, no problems.

phill what is 0ne of these rigs worth to buy and wat would stop us in qld from registering it as that sounds like fun
Not sure how the rego rules operate in QLD. The registration here is a conditional type, probably similiar to what we might expect the new rules in NSW will be regarding our comp trucks. I know there is a very large group in QLD that were doing ride trips regularly up and down The Cape, Fraser etc, I was regularily getting invites before I changed email addresses. Next weekend I am doing a road/trail trip in the mountains east of Tamworth with an ATV group with full on road approval usage etc. Craig from here did one about a month ago around the Nowendoc region, they did more than 200kms in a weekend of fast hard driving/riding and had heaps of fun. (So hard one ATV rider had to be air lifted out). The Polaris 4x4 kept up with them all the way and carried all the spares.
These things retail for about $25,000 grand, so they are not cheap, but they are virutally ready to race at that. Our toy here has a few other go fast bits on it but I enjoy driving it more than any comp truck I have ever driven. I reckon we could easily pull a top 10 finish in some of the high speed creek runs at cliffhanger no problems. (Deep water might be a problem)
You are more than welcome to take it for a spin when you come down Crazy Eyes.

are you actully allowed to drive it on the road or is it only for transportation between sites and so on,
does it have coilovers??
does it have diff locks???
any other info??
and most importantly DOES IT LOOK LIKE THE REAL THING,
Maybe David see's this as the future of competition vehicles?
very interested to see where this leads.........
And Crazy you'd be amazed getting out of a cruiser into one of these things.... you'd actually drive some hills!!! he he he he

and our cars look like the real thing.....as far as race cars go, but your handing out penaltys for that,
so what penaltys will this start with and is it fully registered or conditional rego,

Hi all god luck at round three , wish i was there but got to help to put CQ Challenge together. The other creek should be good, see you at round 1 next year.
PS . My money on the polaris. I' am going to get one looks like fun.
Sorry you can't make it Brad. Thanks for the well wishes.
Weather will be a bit cool down here this weekend too.
P.S. We might be quick through the trees but we will be a bit slow on the winching, but we will have a heap of fun even though we are not competing for places or points. Its just a trial.
