Brake Pads wearing out every 5000 km

Post by nicinnz »

Hi I am replacing brake pads front and rear about every 5000km, have been using the Lucas pads from Repco not the cheaper silverline pads. They are wearing evenly, the slides and pistons are all free. I was told its due to all the mud, gravel and grit. Anyone out there had a similar problem and if so what pads were you using? Any recomadations on brand of pads?

I've had Bendix 4wd pads for a few years now - not sure on the distance they've done, but last week's inspection reported 25% and 50% wear - don't remember which was front/back.

No complaints with the performance.

Hi Nick, I found I was as well until I went away from the repco ones, funny thing was it was only the rears that were wearing out real fast. Maybe there was a faulty lot as I ahve alwasy got my pads from there, front included.

I got sick of wearing them out so got southern brakes to look at it, they skimmed the disc's and put new pads in - seemed to be ok now.

But yes, our conditions don't help. See you at winch challenge?
