I'd be very interested in the results of trying a GT30 on Marin's duesel, make sure you let me know.
Not sure that is going to happen quite the timeframe described earlier, I've been spending, and will be spending money on getting the truck offroad-able (to my standards) and then actually driving it a bit.
The upcoming navrun will be my trucks first outing doing some real driving, so will be able to get an idea of how it all performs in the real offroad world (although I have heard the offroading may not be that hard....). Am also hoping to have my modified injector pump on for that, but still the same turbo. Amount of boost is not decided yet, will see once the pump in on how much boost we can get out of this turbo (remembering I would actually like to sell this turbo once I get another 1!).
But it is still on the horizon.....

We are flat lining intake temps as usual and minimal pressure drop, just waiting for Dzltec to sort the graphs out, they will not be too different to Marin's. The triple pass heat exchanger brought temps down a little but not quite as much as I expected. Some food for thought there. But on the whole a good result and the owner is very happy with the new found power.
AFR's are good and very little black smoke, EGT's are lower too.
On 33's and AUTO and a stock fuel pump oh yes and a 3" exhaust.

What can i say but very happy. EGT's are lower, power and torque is up a lot, the car drives very differently. On hills where it used to run out of puff in overdrive and lose speed it now accelerates! People need to remember it's a standard GQ pump with a standard DTS kit running 10psi and 33's. The difference is awesome.
Busmans dyno runs were also done in a 2-3 gear shift so we can reproduce runs consintently. That torque figure is in 2nd gear, also helping is a torque convertor.

Hey andy... we can always fit yours up to my truck if you wanna see how good it can be saves it sittin in the box
First up is the Pre intercooler dyno run v Post, with no adjustments.
As you can see we picked up about 3kw neither here nor there, but the lower graph shows the AFR's have changes quite a bit with the colder denser air. Pre Blue post Red
The first adjustments brought the AFR's up to around the same.
If you then go back to the above graph with kw and Torque previously posted for the final run, you will notice after the tune 3rd gear holds it power far better and no longer drops off quite so dramatically.
Pre and post map are as expected
Intake temps after the intercooler were a little higher than expected, with the triple passed custom radiator and 10"spal fans but were always heading south on the dyno run's as they shed any heat soak from idling.
Matt, do you think I'll have troubles using a setup like this after the throttle body? Essentially the intercooler box would become my inlet manifold and it is going to be bolted onto the factory inlet runners.
Would I have to place extra internal bracing to prevent the unit collapsing under vacuum.

Lag maybe, when you get on the power you have to more vacuum to fill from the T/B think that makes sense.

LOL nah, that plan got scrapped.... but am now trying to decide between GT2860RS, GT2871R, GT2876R.... and the GT30 range are still to be thought about.....
Have been out finally getting to drive the thing offroad! EGT's do rise, but nowhere near as quickly as an air to air when sitting and spinning on a greasy hill. Although it is kinda hard to be watching engine temp, EGT, boost and drive up a slippery hill at the same time.

so did youu scrap the idea of the GT3082 coz of time? or dont think it would suit?
Its a lot bigger than the GT28s, I'd be curious to know what you go with

No, it was scraped because matt wanted to use his car lol
Also there is somebody on here with a GU ute that is upgrading his factory turbo to a GT3071R (i think it was) so i'm also going to wait and see what his is like when that is installed. Easy to just go and buy one, but getting feedback on the different turbo's when installed also helps with the decision making process.

What!! tell Matt stiff shit, theres testing to be done
Its definitely good to know someone else has had success with something before handing over a fistfull of moolah.
Short answer, no. 28 is t25 flange internal wastegate, matts 30 is t3 and external, but it will bolt straight up to your manifold. Inlet and outlet pipes of the compressor housing are off different sizes.

Hi guys, very interested in fitting this to my GU, recently converted the 3L to the 4.2 and looking forward to making some good power. Has any progress been made on fitting the radiators to a GU, i'm not sure what my options are.

Cheers
Just buy one, Hebble, we will MAKE it fit! You could have a party in behind a GU grill, there is that much room!
