This is why I went the ARB air locker. I know it's nowhere as well as engeneered as the maxi or as strong, but I saved fully fitted by me almost a grand (about $1400, with coompressor, locking hemisphere and the pump up kit fot tyres).
The 24 spline unit would of been my fitrst choice if I had of know it was almost identical to the 10 spline. You can change the side gears, which is what I will be doing in the not too distant future, pending on overall cost!!
If you canm afford it, the Maxi's or Jac Mac are the best options, well worth the extra few dollars and minimal breakage.

Trav

What makes you say this??? I'm really really curious on this one!
I had ARB centre, Maxi-drive shafts, CV upgrade etc... and thrashed my Disco silly (with 5L V8 and also with supercharger) in some of the worst terrain possible (read rock hopping big time )
The ARBs didnt ever faulter. But I have seen a couple of Maxis with the actuator slammed pretty badly...
And with the ARB heavy duty hose kit theres no risk there either.
Not looking for trouble, looking for answers!
Landrovers... Nothing else comes close!
I know someome that broke an ARB centre, that what made me say this. To ARB's good after sales servicve, this particular bloke was given a new centre, free of charge. It's good to see that ARB have faith in there engeneering. Maybe I was hasty on the comment on the ARB not being well engeneered, what i really ment was the axle department, more Land Rovers poor engeneering there!!
Your set-up sounds like a good comprimise using both maxi and ARB gear. I run 10 splines with 32's on and this took it's toll on my axles, but I would say they had been damaged long beforehand. Got a good set in now with another as spare, see how long they will last.
I still think that if you are to address most of the Rangie's axle problems, the maxi-Drive is still the best option. Had on myself and just for piece of mind it was great to know that I wouldn't break anyhting (which puts a real dampner on any sort of off-road trip).
Youi brought up an interestingt point here, would be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem.

discokid wrote:$2000 inc fitting and some other small bits to convert to 110 CVs. You can do it cheaper with non guenuine CVs. I stuck with Maxi as it is much more widely availiable here in Perth than Jac Mac and the spares if it breaks
I didnt know about the Hilux CVs at the time. Now Im wiser
I hope you have good faith in your 110CVs.
This is less than 5hrs old and prob has only 1/2 the HP you plan on putting through them with your LS1.
Yes it was a Brand new Genuine CV in the front of the Lockless Monster. And your running a locker too
De-ja-vu ! I up graded my cv's to the 110 on my 1990 Rangie and with no locker running 33 's and the 4.7 stroker she went snapo up in Collie and looks just like tha photo !!! Are you sure thats yours and not mine must be your photo as i don't have a neat table
I want a front locker bad ! I wanna better set up more , as money permitts

Looks like I might be in for some fun. I havent posted pics yet. Im upgrading the LS1 for more HP!!
Ill be on the road in a couple of weeks and Ill see how they go
I guess the 110 CV's arn't all that cracked up to be from thwe looks at it.
I'll stiock with my early Rangie CV's. there not the strongest Cv known to man, but cheap (if you geet a good set secondhand, don't know the price new). Also running slightly smaller tyres (32 inch MT/R's) and the stock 3.9 so Hopefully this will not happen too soon (no money!!).
