40 Series panels -Help-

Post by The Toge »

I've searched 67 different pages and can't find an answer so.......

I have a BJ42 LX 83 model factory 6 seater and i'm looking for panels in decend condition - check wanted folder -

Are all FJ40, BJ40, BJ42 Hard top panels and Tubs the same and if not what panels / tubs are compatable with the BJ42?

Thanks

all 40x panels are interchangable, only major difference is the front apron with the headlights, will still bolt up though

the tubs are different with the early models have tank under the seat, later models have tank under the floor pan

No they are not the same but yes most will fit.

You need a late model 40 seriesr of 42 series as you will have the fuel tank under the tub and not under the seat. The rear doos will be barn doors and not split lift and swing like the earlier 40's.

Also being an LX model you will need to get an LX roof if you wish to retain the sliding side windows as opposed to the 3/4 solid and small 1/4 flip out, although you can trip the 1/4 flip out to make it fit a slidder.

Between the late 40's and the 42's there is next to no difference apart from fuel lines etc related to the 42 being diesel and the 40 being petrol.

Front guards are same with all lates fitting and being the same.

hi mate

most panels are different between the early and late model tubs there was a few different tubs, a few different windscreen surrounds, a few different side panels for the rear, taligates, doors,

for instance,Tubs changed in 79, easy way to tell is the fuel cap is
square on the late model tubs a bj42 lx has a 3 wiper windscreen surround, it has sliding rear windows.

Cheers,
JEs
