Where to put gauges in 88-97 shape hilux

Post by gotta_b_a_lux »

hey all

Putting a turbo on my lux mid week and have some extra gauges i want to fit. I want to fit a boost and water temp definately and im not sure on a pyrometer and oil pressure yet.

Just can't figure out where exactly to put them, legally they can't restrict my view and im only on 1 point so dont wanna get pulled up for em.

Just wanted to see what people have done.

So far i have fitted a boost gauge next to my clock but i want to move it as you can't rele see it when driving so ill put another gauge there to fill the hole.

This is what i have to work with...

Get mini Gauges and put them on a bracket up the right hand side Windscreen / Door frame :)

Look at a surf as well. Some came with dashpod gauges. If you are chasing the factory look. Gut the pod and place your gauges in that angled towards the driver. Idid this with my 85 4runner. Came up a treat. I used VDO guages on mine. Ran Boost, Pyro and Oil pressure.

Move your uhf, make up a DIN panel, get some angling rings for the gauges and you should be able to fit three 52mm gauges under your CD player easily. You should be able to buy a DIN panel from autobarn etc aswell.
Cheers,
Dan.
