v6 prado feedback

Post by neilpatrol »

Hey guys well the mrs old man is looking at a 05-06 v6 manual prado. Has any1 had any contact with these vehicles towing big caravans or boats?

We have a 6M cruisecraft that goes 2Tonne and this is what the vehicle is being purchased for. I'd like to see him in a diesel but any feedback your willing to share would be great.

Not sure of years things change but 4 litre v6 is very powerful and great engine but will use fuel. The prado TD was gutless until the new and current D4D engine was used from the hilux. I know quite a few people with v6 petrol prados and they are all very happy with them. Can't really help with towing capabilities though. But it will be thirsty with that weight.

Hope this helps.

We have one although it is auto, I have towed the Lux behind it with no dramas at all the thing has more than enough power to do it. It also did it easier and using a lot less fuel than the crewman I have did.

Personally I would be looking for an auto as the engine does lack low down torque, the auto does a good job of masking it but its noticeable in the manuals especially with a load on the back.

We have just had ours put on gas but I am yet to tow with it on gas although day to day driving costs have dropped dramatically since fitting it so hopefully it will help with the towing costs also.
